From the Pastor

In today's Second Reading, Paul writes about Jesus' nature. He stresses that the Son of God was God. He freely gave up all the trappings of glory and honor that are appropriate for God. He became fully human, with a nature identical to ours, though sinless. He abandoned his glory to such an extent that he even suffered death, a reality to which all humans are subject, but God is not. It is because of this self-surrender to death that God has now raised him up and made him once again "Lord." Jesus is to be honored and revered by us, because he suffered everything we suffer, and yet was obedient to God. Let us meditate on this Palm/Passion Sunday this great humility and offering of life by Jesus. Let us turn to him as our Lord and ask for his help as we try to live obedience to God as well.

In the Redeemer, Fr Brian

MOPS group now forming. What is Mops?

MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, birth through kindergarten. MOPS is a grassroots movement that believes moms are world influencers. We also believe that incubation hearts and giving just-because-hugs can change the course of history. That’s why we connect moms all over the world to a community of women, in their own neighborhoods, who meet together and embrace the journey of motherhood. We are moms, and we believe that better moms make a better world. http://www.mops.org

STEWARDSHIP

March 29, 2015 Passion / Palm Sunday

Jesus said, “For you always have the poor with you, and you can show kindness to them whenever you wish.” Mark 14:7

Even though Jesus said these words as a rebuke to on-lookers who criticized the woman who anointed him, they do remind us that the poor in fact are always with us. During this Holy Week, let’s resolve to show kindness to the poor generously and often.

Help with End of Life Decisions

The Bishops of Missouri have created a booklet to help you deal with the questions that frequently arise when facing end of life decisions. They also have a form to name someone as a Durable Power of Attorney. If you or someone you love is facing end of life decisions and you are interested in this booklet, please call the parish office.

Remember OLPH Redemptorist Church in your Will

Many people ask about how to include the parish in your will.

Just a few sentences in your will are all that is needed. The

official legal bequest language for the parish is: "I, [name], of

[city, state, ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to Our Lady of

Perpetual Help Parish, Kansas City, Mo [written amount or

percentage of the estate or description of property] for its

unrestricted use and purpose." This is a simple way to help

your parish. Please consider seeing your legal advisor and

adding OLPH to your will!

Year of Consecrated Life

Invited to leave everything to follow Christ, you, consecrated men and women, no longer define your life by family, by profession, or by earthly interests, and you choose the Lord as your only identifying mark. Thus you acquire a new family identity.

—Homily of Pope John Paul II, Jubilee of Consecrated Life, February 2, 2000
