Health Ministry

Parents do you know 11 & 12 year olds need immunizations? Get your pre-teens shots on schedule! Doctors recommend that the Tdap booster (this protects against tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough) the MCV4 (protects against meningitis). Meningitis is a very serious infection of the tissue around the brain and spinal cord. For girls the HPV vaccine protects against the most common kinds of cervical cancers. As kids grow older some of the childhood vaccines begin to wear off. That’s why it’s important to get a booster shot. Ask your doctor to send you a print out of your child’s shots. If you haven’t already scheduled a checkup for your pre-teen. The CDC’s pre-teen vaccination recommendations are supported by the American Academy of Pediatrics. For questions ask your pediatrician or parish nurse.
