The OLPH Home & School Association has formedGrounds Keeping and Beautification Committee. If you are interested in working on this committee on aregular basis please call Beth Tapley 423-290-0766  [email protected]. All parishioners and their 

families are invited to help us keep our church andschool grounds looking beautiful year round. Therewill be a Work Day scheduled for Saturday June 26from 9:00-1:00. Please meet in the back parking lotand bring shovels, rakes, hoes, wheelbarrows, gloveand any other gardening tools you like to use. We hamulch to spread, flowers to water and weeding to doAll ages are welcome. In addition to this work dayweekly help is required to keep the landscapinglooking nice. Weeding and watering needs to be donon a regular basis to keep all of our plants healthy

the Interfaith Hospitality Homeless Agency. The will stay with us for one week

staying overnight in Madonna Hall located under the Gymnasium. During that week werely on volunteers to be of service to them while they are here. We, Lisa Kosky & AnneWells, are writing this to the members of our church to inform all, of the responsibilitiesand the times that volunteers are needed. Some parishioners thought that if theyvolunteered that they would have to have the families in their homes, but this not the

case. The families are on the church premises during the evenings and at the agencydowntown during the daytime hours. We hope that the following volunteer descriptionsand times help you to hear the spirit calling you to this ministry. Thank you and Godbless you all.

Volunteer Positions and Times

Can be families, single adults, teens and childrenWe do sign for Christian Service hours.

Set up: Sunday, 6/27/10, 1:30-4:30 Tear down: 7/4/10, 7-9 am.Need 4 or more people. N e e d 4 or more people.

Need to remove the beds, and personal luggage from the trailer, set up andmake the beds, clean and possibly divides the classrooms for the families.

Tear down is todo the opposite, tear down the beds and re-pack the trailerwith them and the families personal luggage to deliver to the next church.Van Drivers: (Need copy of drivers license for IHN agency):1 or 2 people

Sunday, 6/27/10 4:30-5:00

Saturday 7/3/10 7 , 8, or 9 am & 4:30-5:00 pm.Sunday 7/4/10 7 am.

Van drivers pick up and/or deliver the families between the MN Agency andthe church.

Greeters: 1 hour period 4:45-5:45 pm. 2 people or a group.Sunday 6/27 through Saturday 7/3.

Greeters greet the families when they come from the agency. They areneeded to help or socialize with the families or just occupy the children untildinner.

Dinner Hosts: 1-2 hours 5:00-6:30 or7:00 pm. 2-3 people or families.Sunday 6/27 through Saturday, 7/3Dinner Hosts, with coordination of our volunteer Meal Coordinator, and theother hosts for the evening, prepare a meal for the families and then stay toeat with them. Dinner is informal. The hosts will socialize with the families

and may assist the parents with children's needs. After the meal, storage ortake home of the meal, clean-up of the school cafeteria and kitchen are done.

Volunteer Positions and Times (Continued)Evening Activities Hosts: 2 hours. 6:30-8:30 pm. 2-3 people or families.

Sunday 6/27 through Saturday, 7/3.Evening hosts plan and conduct children's activities, help with homework,

or assist a guest with a particular need. We have use of the gymnasium foractivities, and possibly have access to laundry facilities. This is also a timefor the families to take showers in the gym.

Overnight Hosts: 10-11 hours, 8 pm-6:30 am. 1-2 people or a family.Sunday 6/27 through Saturday, 7/3

Hosts must be over the age of 18. Parents can bring their younger school agechildren. Hosts spend the night at Madonna Hall. Beds will be set up in aseparate classroom that is off limits to the families. Hosts can bring sleepingbags, pillows, or blankets for their use. Overnight hosts spend time with the

guests, help children with homework, and are available in case ofemergency. They wake the families at 6:00 or earlier as needed for thefamilies to prepare for breakfast and get ready to leave for work or the 1HNAgency. Some hosts have brought breakfast.

If you are interested in any of above volunteer positions you must signup in the designated date and time on the poster board located in HolyFamily Hall or call one of us.There are other ways to you can help with the IHN Homeless ministry.Some other ways are:

Supplies: Volunteers can purchase the food staples for snacks, lunches,

breakfast, and drinks, paper products, cleaning supplies andother needed items.

Activities: Volunteers plan and organize special activities and events, such

as arts-and-crafts projects, video parties, and outings for thechildren and families.

Donations: Monies can be donated to OLPH to be used to purchase theabove mentioned supplies. Volunteers, in coordination with theIHNI Agency, collect, coordinate, organize, and/or provideclothing, furniture, and household items which are distributed
