    rs from 24 Rotaract clubs in District 3780 came to attend

    he RI-mandated Rotaract District Assembly. They were in-

    women with outstanding accomplishments during their youth

    ke Napoleon Bonaparte, Thomas Jefferson, Joan of Arc, etc.

    nd encouraged the participants to use their God-given tal-

    nts as youth leaders in serving their community. IPDG

    Penny Policarpio spoke on How to be a First Class Rotaract

    Club and gave practical tips culled from articles and writings

    f well-known Rotarian leaders.

    After the inspirational messages, the participants

    grouped by functions and areas of responsibility and list

    to resource persons and facilitators. The afternoon se

    was highlighted by a success story from a Rotaractor ered by PP Mon Dacayo of RID 3800.

    The Rotaract DISTAS 2013 was hosted by RC Uptow

    valiches and its sponsored Rotaract clubs. Co-host

    were RC Timog, RC QC Central and RC Holy Spirit.

    WHATEVER ROTARY MAY MEAN TO US, TO THE WORLD IT WILL B

    KNOWN BY THE RESULTS IT ACHIEVES.PAUL P. HARRIS

    Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one manPaul P. Harris. Th

    Chicago attorney formed one of the worlds first service organizations, the Rotary Club of

    Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgroundscould exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotarys name came from the groups early

    practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.

    OUR ONGOING COMMITMENTRotarians have not only been present for major events in historyweve been a part of them. From the begin-

    ning, three key traits have remained strong throughout Rotary:

    Were truly international. Only 16 years after being founded, Rotary had clubs on six continents. Today were

    working together from around the globe both digitally and in-person to solve some of our worlds most challen

    ing problems.

    We persevere in tough times. During WWII, Rotary clubs in Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, and Japan wereforced to disband. Despite the risks, many continued to meet informally and following the wars end, Rotary

    members joined together to rebuild their clubs and their countries.

    Our commitment to service is ongoing. We began our fight against polio in 1979 with a project to immunize 6

    million children in the Philippines. By 2012, only three countries remain polio-endemicdown from 125 in

    1988.

    The Object of RotaryFirst formulated in 1910, the Object of Rotary is to encourage and

    foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in par-

    ticular, to encourage and foster:

    . The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for

    service;

    . High ethical standards in business and professions,the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and

    the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity

    to serve society;

    . The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's

    personal, business, and community life;

    . The advancement of international understanding,

    goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and

    professional persons united in the ideal of service.

    5 Avenues of ServiceBased on Object of Rotary, the Five Avenues of Service are Rotarys phi-osophical cornerstone and the foundation on which club activity is based:

    focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring

    the effective functioning of the club.

    encourages Rotarians to serve others

    through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards.

    covers the projects and activities the club

    undertakes to improve life in its community.

    encompasses actions taken to expand

    Rotarys humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote

    world understanding & peace.

    recognizes the positive change implemented by

    youth and young adults through leadership development activi-

    ties, service projects, and exchange programs.
