Danfoss Presents the New CO2 Gas Cooler Solution

In the northern part of Europe, CO2 is today the standard refrigerant in supermarket refrigeration systems.

Danfoss has been part of this development since the beginning, and has experienced why strong application know-how, focus on safety and total cost is important when developing CO2 solutions.

with over 400 CO2 high pressure systems installed globally with more than 4 years of field tests with extensive experience within CO2 system design since 2001 in all areas (controls, valves and compressors)

Danfoss is an Experienced and Reliable Partner

Individual Danfoss components as well as solutions were optimised based on what provides the best value for our customers: Field proven products and solutions Easy to install Easy to adjust Maximum system efficiency Cost optimised systems and solutions

The system needs only one controller to run both high and medium pressure valves. High pressure valve design has been optimised based on extensive experience in field tests.

All components are field proven and have successfully passed harsh tests in Danfoss labs and at our customers’ facilities.

Danfoss engineering and sales teams offer a comprehensive support in the optimal selection of the components for CO2 systems. For further information, please download our new 50 pages application guide from www.danfoss.com/CO2

Did you know...?

Globally, commercial refrigeration is the refrigeration subsector with the largest refrigerant emissions, calcu-lated as CO2

equivalents, representing more than 30% of the total refrigerant emissions.

Cooling with CO2 solves a big part of the commercial refrigeration systems carbon footprint, reducing the direct impact to almost 0.

High pressure systems can maintain either maximum COP or maximum system capacity for any given ambient condition.

Intermediate pressure is controlled independently and maintained on the required level.

The system can efficiently operate in both transcritical and subcritical mode.

The controller maintains optimum pressure in the transcritical range based on a pressure and temperature reading.

dP or dT subcooling can be used in the subcritical range.

Gas cooler controller, type EKC 326AThe controller guarantees the system’s maximum performance by maintaining the optimal pressure in the gas cooler when regulation takes place in the transcritical range.

High pressure expansion valve, type ICMTSThe valve is specifically designed for high pressure CO2 applications for a maximum working pressure of 140 bar / 2030 psig. The valve can be used in a variety of applications including heat reclaim and heat pumps. The PTFE seat provides excellent valve tightness – no need for an extra solenoid valve. The valve features direct coupled DIN butt weld connections - can be directly used on packs with steel piping. The regulating cone ensures optimum regulating accuracy particularly at part load.

Intermediate pressure valve, type ETSThe valve ensures precise positioning for optimal control of the intermediate pressure. The design provides a solenoid tight shut-off function at MOPD 33 bar (478.6 psig) - no need for an extra solenoid valve. Precise regulation is ensured - also in the systems with high load variations.

Servo operated control valve, type ICS with high pressure pilot valve, type CVP-XPAn alternative way to control the intermediate pressure is to use a mechanical ICS valve with CVP-XP pilot. In combination with EVM pilot, this solution can provide an emergency shut-off of the by-pass line in case of a black out. The valve is also available at a max working pressure of 65 bar.A
