COURSE OBJECTIVE

At the end of training students would be able to:

have the basic understanding on the operation of a private Architects office. acquire some experience in architectural office environment. apply knowledge and theory into practice. instill positive working culture which includes work ethics and attitude. gain the experience working on site.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students are required to work in a selected architectural firms to gain the knowledge and experience

from the practice for duration of about 3 months.

The students will be exposed to the following scope of task:

Office organizational set-up and management The actual process of designing. Working on site- site visit. Working with Autocad and 3D software. Attend meeting which also involve other consultants in the building construction.

A Log Book and a Practical Experience Report are required to be submitted at the end of the

Practical Training period.

SYLLABUS CONTENT

During the Training Period, the students are expected to be exposed in the following scope of work:

The organization and management of the firm including staffing and administration. The actual working process including the process of designing, preparation of drawings until

the submission of the drawings.

Working on sites which include site visits with supervisors.TEACHING METHOD

Gain the experience through working in the office environment.

THE LOG BOOK

The purpose of the logbook is to enable the candidates to present his or her practical training

experience in a sequential order. The logbook will also assist the lecturer to determine whether the

practical experience is adequate and provide an easy reference to any aspect of the training

undergone.

The logbook should be a compilation of diary sheets, time sheets and log sheets. The sheets must be

completed every week and log sheets every month. All entries should be clear and concise and thesupervisor/ architect must sign the sheets.

The logbook must be submitted to the Institution on completion of the approved practical training.
