THE William Porteous empire isexpanding with the arrival of threenew staffers.

Among those joining Perth’shighest-profile real estate agent isJody Fewster, daughter of Perthbusinessman Alan Bond.

One of Australia’s richest men inthe 1980s following a string of high-profile acquisitions, Mr Bond wasdeclared bankrupt in 1992 beforeroaring back last year to be namedamong the top 200 wealthiestpeople in Australia by BRWmagazine, with an estimated networth of $265 million.

Jody told Residential there wereadvantages to being Alan’sdaughter.

“I had a privileged upbringingand a wonderful internationaleducation,” she said. “As aconsequence, I developed a broadnetwork of both business andsocial contacts. I also met myhusband, Damian Fewster, throughdad’s involvement with theAmerica’s Cup.’’

Damian was a bow man onAustralia II when in 1983 it becamethe first challenger to win the Cupin 132 years of racing.

The history-making yacht is nowthe centrepiece of the WAMaritime Museum in Fremantle.

Jody has had a diverse businesscareer. She started her owncustomer care consultancy inSydney a decade ago before movingback to Perth to buy, sell andrenovate luxury properties inPeppermint Grove and MosmanPark over the past eight years.

Now, she is excited aboutjoining the William Porteous

Properties International team.“I was thinking about going back

to full-time work when Willieasked me to join him,’’ she said.

“I have known him for a longtime and have a huge amount ofrespect for him.

“I appreciate the sophisticatednature of the client base. I loveselling and am very excited to beputting my energy to work.”

Jody grew up in Dalkeith and haslived in Mosman Park andPeppermint Grove for the pastnine years with her husband andtwo children.

“I love Peppermint Grove for itsproximity to the river and beachand the Napoleon Street shops andrestaurants,’’ she said.

“The eclectic architecture onlarge blocks also appeals to me.

“Being married to a builder whois also a yachtsman means we alsoenjoy the Royal Freshwater Bay

Yacht Club and parkland along theriver’s edge.”

Another fresh face to join theteam at William Porteous is thefounder’s son, Andrew.

After returning from the UK lastyear, AndrewPorteous beganwork withdeveloper SavilleAustralia, sellingprojects off theplan, beforedeciding the timewas right to joinhis father’scompany.

“I was educatedin the UK, studied in Tokyo for fiveyears at Sophia University andspeak fluent Japanese,” he said.

“Post graduation, I worked forthe Welsh government lookingafter the Japanese companies inWales for two years.

“After that, I returned to Perthfor four years and was involved inthe security alarm business andthen water purification business.

“In 2000, I returned to Londonand was involved in the health and

fitness industry for eight years,following my passion for sport,health and wellness.

“Now, I’m ready for a newchallenge – real estate.

“I am extremely excited to bejoining my father.

“Many people suggested that Ijoin him years ago, but it never feltthe time was right. Now, it doesfeel right. I look forward to a longcareer with the company.”

William Porteous has alsowelcomed Mark Dimmock to theteam.

For the past four years, Markhas been working in vehicle saleswith Toyota.

“I started out on the showroomfloor and then moved intomanagement, gaining experiencemanaging a sales team with strictmonthly budgets,’’ he said.

“I’ve always had an interest inreal estate though, and I’m thrilledto have an opportunity to get moreinvolved in the industry.

“Willie is the best in theindustry. To work within hisagency and learn from him is thegreatest opportunity I could hopefor.’’ ■
