What we will do today….• Figure out what Grandma’s magic was all about

• Look at how Grandma’s magic could impact your work
• Review motivational support systems
• Learn how to create the team with which you want to play/work………..let’s go!
What IS ‘Grandma’s Law?
How might Grandma’s Law relate to a bus ride?
• What is your job here? --- to deliver safe transportation
• What do you need from your students to have you be able to fulfill your job?
--- seat belts on --- quiet at RR crossings --- respecting bus mates and you
• What else?
Guidelines for modifying behavior…How did Grandma do it?

System
But….there’s more….Don’t forget…..
• Mutual respect – greet them by name each day
• Follow through with what you request
• Don’t judge nor critique
• Let them know you need their help to do your job – tell them what you need from them
• Give kudos to students, teachers, family, etc. for even the smallest progress – be sincere
Yup…still more to come….
• If you see students not getting along, create a seating chart…when they ask how long they must sit there, tell them it is up to them – giving them the power to alter their behavior
• Allow music, I-Pads, etc. if not too loud
• Focus on their strengths
• Wait until the next day to address issues, if possible
CONSISTENCY RULES!!!!
Thanks for being here today…..this was fun, remembering the strengths of our Grandmas…..Let me know if I can be of any further help to you or your departments.
