To the Parish Family of St. John the Evangelist,With a joyful and grateful heart, I wish to share with you some great news! Archbishop Pérez has announced that parishes of the Archdiocese of Phila-delphia will be able to resume public Masses the weekend of June 6 and 7. On behalf of myself and the Deacons, we look forward to welcoming you back! Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus as we make our way back to the in person celebration of the Mass. While our county remains in the Yellow Phase of statewide reopening, all of us need to do our part to make sure that our return to Mass is a peaceful and safe experience for all. Please take the time to read the instructions below. We ask everyone to follow these guidelines when attending Mass during this period:GENERAL POINTS• The obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation continues to be lifted during the Yellow Phase. You are not required to

attend Mass at this time.• Please stay home if you are sick.• Please stay home if you are at higher risk of severe illness with COVID19. If you are uncertain about your risk status, please consult your doctor.• Mass will continue to be available as it has throughout the pandemic. Daily and Sunday Mass will be posted on our website and Facebook page.MASS SCHEDULE• The regular Mass schedule will resume with the 4:00 PM Saturday Vigil, 7:30 AM, 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM on Sunday.• Since state regulations for the Yellow Phase allows for only 50 percent capacity of our church to be utilized (450people), any overflow of parish-

ioners would be directed to the Chapel.BEFORE COMING TO MASS• Please wash your hands for 20 seconds using soap and water.• Before entering the Church, please put on a face mask or cloth covering. Exceptions to this are “children younger than 2 years old, anyone who has

trouble breathing or is unconscious, and anyone who is incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the cloth face covering without assistance” (CDC Guidelines).

• Missalettes will not be in the pews during this period. You are welcome to bring your own missal/readings with you.ENTERING THE CHURCH AND SEATING• Hand sanitizers will be available at the Church entrances. Please use the hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting the Church. Please consider

bringing your own small hand sanitizer.• There will be Collection baskets at the entrances of the church for your convenience to drop off your weekly donation. NO collection will be

taken up during the Mass.• Once you have entered, you will be guided by an usher or greeter to your seat, where social distancing will be required. Seating will start in the

pews closest to the altar, and by direction of the ushers, proceed to the back of the church, until the church has reached capacity.• Seating will be designed for every third pew. Members of families or same households may sit together. Please place 6 feet between your house-

hold and members of a different household.• Missalettes will be removed, and you are encouraged to bring your own Missal reading with you, or access the Mass and readings using your

own electronic device.MASS AND THE RECEPTION OF HOLY COMMUNION• There will be an organist and cantor to lead us in song.• There will be no Sign of Peace during Mass during the Yellow Phase.• The Precious Blood will not be distributed during Mass during the Yellow Phase.• There should be no holding of hands during the Our Father.• Please maintain social distancing in the Communion line. Please keep several pews between yourself and the person in front of you while in line

and when returning to your pew.• During the Yellow Phase, the faithful are asked to receive Holy Communion in the hand. There will be FOUR Communion stations across the

front. N.B. Father Will will distribute ONLY to those who wish to continue receiving Holy Communion on the tongue.• Please remove your mask before receiving Holy Communion.EXITING THE CHURCH• At the conclusion of Mass, please exit the Church and take a bulletin with you. Bulletins and any additional flyers will be available on tables in

the vestibule.• Please leave your mask on until you exit the Church.• You are asked to avoid congregating in small groups in church, either before or after Mass. Kindly proceed directly to your vehicles.OUR COMMITMENT TO YOUSaint John’s will follow the guidelines from the CDC for sanitation as we resume public Masses. To view the CDC guidelines, visit: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/faith-based.html

A NOTE FROM FR. WILLAs you can see, here at St. John’s we are taking seriously your safety, as well as our own. I know so well how much you,our parishioners, have been yearning for the return to the reception of Our Lord in the Eucharist. May this reunionbetween you and Jesus be a holy, profound and at the same time, a safe experience. As a postscript, weekday Masses have resumed and are celebrated at 8:00 AM in the main church. This space allows for the required social distancing.Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will continue in the church each day until further notice. The schedule will be as follows:Monday thru Friday: 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM Saturday: 9:00 AM until the 4:00 PM Vigil Sunday: 1:00 PM until 8:00 PMMay God’s abundant graces and blessing continue to be with you and your loved ones!

Congratulations to our parishioner, Jim Higgins, on being honored by the Gesu School for his alumni achievements by establishing the James F. Higgins ‘45 Distinguished Alumni Award. When he learned that Founding President, Rev. George W. Bur, S.J., needed support to transition Gesu into an independent school, Jim reached out to as-sist. In 1993, he joined the new school’s board as its first treasurer. Jim still serves as one of Gesu’s longest tenured trustees and remains among their most loyal supporters.

This award will honor alumni who embody Jim’s legacy through their success, heart, Gesu pride, and dedication.

Don’t forget your Father’s Day envelope, so they can be placed on the altar for the month of June.

Thank you for your support of our P.R.E.P. program. I am thrilled to have this special opportunity and I am honored to work with such dedicated teach-ers who join you in teaching the tenets of our Catholic faith to the children of our parish.

The registration will be done through a program call PARISH GIVING, an on-line registration system. This method will continue to process your data and input this information so that your child is registered in the proper grade level and session. The P.R.E.P. fee of $250.00 per child will also be col-lected at this time. Many Religious Education programs have embraced this method of registration. In this age of technological advances, why not take advantage of a program that has a high success rate.

The family registration form that needs to be completed will be done ON-LINE ONLY by going to the site listed below. Please give accurate data when completing this form. Please note that your child(ren) will NOT be automatically re-registered in our P.R.E.P. without your completing the on-line registration. On-line registration cannot be completed without payment.

ORIGINAL BAPTISMAL CERTIFI-CATES for all new students MUST be presented to the P.R.E.P. office in the month of September. Be assured, as in any academic setting, that any information shared for the best interest of the child is held in strictest confidence. If you have a financial hardship, please place your request in writing to the attention of Father William Monahan.
