Hello parents and guardians!
I cannot believe how fast this semester has gone! We are busy finishing up units, going over
final exam outlines and planning some fun adventures for all of our students to end the year at
RHS! It is an exciting time of year; anticipating summer holidays as well as reflecting back on
the school year. Here are a few notable events for May and June:
Graduation: this time is such a great opportunity to honour each unique graduate it is also a time
to reminisce on how much they will be missed here at RHS. This current group of students are a
mature, fun and caring group who will be successful in whatever they choose.
SRC Fun Day: a fun filled tradition where staff and students enjoy an afternoon of activity in
bouncy castles and water activities. This year, due to our limited field space, there will be some
exciting new activities that we hope all will enjoy!
National Aboriginal Day: an excellent learning opportunity for our students to continue to
build their knowledge of Canada’s history. We are excited to be able to provide trips to Batoche
as well as a class will be joining Stobart Community School in their learning.
RHS Awards Program: will take place on Wednesday, June 26th at 1:30. This is an awesome
opportunity to celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of all of our students in
academics, sports and clubs.
This time of year is also a time where we learn of changes for the upcoming school year.
Mr. Kroeger will be on an education leave until December as he continues to work on his
Master’s degree. It is also a special time for him and his wife as they will welcome the birth of
their first child in early July. We wish him congratulations and good luck on this journey.
Mr. Erickson will be replacing Mr. Kroeger until the end of December. Mr. Erickson joins us
from Warman, we wish to extend him a warm RHS welcome!
Welcome to Mr. Berry as the new vice-principal for the 2019-2020 school year! Mr. Berry is
returning to us from Hague High. He first taught here a few years ago. We are excited to
welcome you back!
That leaves me… I write this portion with mixed emotions to announce that I will be moving
over to the Elementary school as Principal for the year. While I am excited to have this
opportunity to get to know and work with the staff of RES; I am also sad to leave RHS in its
final year.

Rosthern High School has been home to me for the last 12 years of my teaching career. Hired
by Mr. Epp and Mrs. Fitzgerald, I learned quickly that this is a community/school that I want
to belong to. I love that RHS is: welcoming to new students/staff, diverse in our cultures,
accepting of all people and focuses on building relationships first. I have worked with so many
people, and all of those people I am happy to call friends. While I am not going far and I am
not going away… I am sad to say see you later.
Mr. Luiten and I will continue to work on the planning for the new school next year and we
look forward to incorporating traditions, cultures and new ideas from both RHS & RES into
our beautiful new building! We have a lot of change happening in the next couple of years and
we look forward to making the transitions as smooth as possible.
I want to wish all of our students a relaxing and rejuvenating summer. Congratulations on all
of your hard work this school year!
Thank-you to the parents for trusting us to help educate your children. Our students are the best
students, and it all starts with you! So thank-you!
Thank-you to my staff: I will miss you, and I cannot wait to be a team again.
Thank-you to the grads: Thank-you for teaching me more than I taught you! You are a special
group of determined young people and I look forward to seeing you again to hear of all of your
adventures! I will miss you!
Thank-you to RHS: Thank-you for being my home and for being my safe place to try new
things…
