PP Rotarian Pat Sands intro-duced, Kayla Penson RotaryExchange Student last year whovisited Finland.

Kayla discussed her hostfamilies and experiences and

passed out her personal pictures.She found her trait of beingnaturally loud in a quiet country

of Finland required her to adjusther voice volume. She talkedabout the attention to real saunaexperiences including using the

birch tree branches. She sharedthe wool balls and other artifacts

she learned to make. Language was very hard to learn, her host mother shared bathroom signs so she would use the right one. She had to learnto roll the r’s and carry out the letters as the Finnish do. She did have ateacher who taught Finnish language.

Kayla found the Foodwas very plain little useof spices. Fish, wheat, ryewere primary food. She wasimpressed on how much

they make own meals rarelygo out to eat. Rotary did

provide an additional trip toRussia and she was St. Pe-tersburg, Russian ballet andmany historical sites. Shealso went on Rotary Eurotour for 2 weeks and visitedMonaco, Paris, Germanyan Italy. She mentioned inschool academics was veryserious activity and upon

graduation top achievers were awarded theWhite Hat very big deal an worn proudly atfuture school events in the community. Themembership was impressed with the experi-ence of Kayla an provided a large round of applause to her presentation.
