Rotarian Lonnie Stead- man, introduced 3 Red Badges, with back seat Quite Rotarian helping? Prospective Member Tina Pruit, Red Badge Tyler Edwards an Red Badge Penny Chennel Carter Supt. of Schools. Rotarian Kirsten Rogers intro- duced Sandy Walmart retail assistant manager as a prospective member.  Special announcements: Blood Drive starting Saturday Oct. 22 Please present the Rotary Blood Source number information during your visit between the hours 1-5 at Oroville Sports Club. Oroville Breakfast Club Annual Wine-tasting is scheduled for Nov. 3 during evening hour 5-8 at Memorial Hall Tickets $25. Student of Month will be next meeting. PP Rotarian Pat Sands intro- duced, Kayla Penson Rotary Exchange Student last year who visited Finland. Kayla discussed her host families and experiences and  passed out her personal pictures. She found her trait of being naturally loud in a quiet country of Finland required her to adjust her voice volume. She talked about the attention to real sauna experiences including using the  birch tree branches. She shared the wool balls and other artifacts she learned to make. Language was very hard to learn, her host mother shared bathroom signs so she would use the right one. She had to learn to roll the r’s and carry out the letters as the Finnish do. She did have a teacher who taught Finnish language. Kayla found the Food was very plain little use of spices. Fish, wheat, rye were primary food. She was impressed on how much they make own meals rarely go out to eat. Rotary did  provide an additional trip to Russia and she was St. Pe- tersburg, Russian ballet and many historical sites. She also went on Rotary Euro tour for 2 weeks and visited Monaco, Paris, Germany an Italy . She mentioned in school academics was very serious activity and upon graduation top achievers were awarded the White Hat very big deal an worn proudly at future school events in the community. The membership was impressed with the experi- ence of Kayla an provided a large round of applause to her presentation.
