It was a fun week for Sacred Heart Students as they celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday this past week. It was even more exciting when they had a special guest, “The Cat in the Hat”, a.k.a. Father Joseph,

who read the book Cat in the Hat to the Students.

Did you know?

The word “Lent” comes from the ancient Anglo-Saxon word for “Spring”

The color used during Lent is purple, mean-ing repentance.

In Christianity’s earliest times, people ate only one meal per day during Lent.

It was illegal to celebrate Lent until Christi-anity itself became “legal” (in 313 A.D.)

Sundays of Lent are never fast days...they are always feast days.

We celebrate Lent for 40 days because the Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness and because Jesus spent 40 days fasting in the wilderness.

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Thursday, when we begin the Easter Triduum—Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Easter is right around the corner!!! Which means it is time to hunt some eggs!!! We will have our Annual Easter Egg Hunt on

Sunday, March 20th right after 10:30 Mass. This is for children up to 6th grade. There will

be refreshments after the egg hunt.

Everyone is invited to come for the Stations of the Cross on all of the

Fridays of Lent starting at 7:00 pm.

Catholic Women of Faith Conference

This year’s Catholic Women of Faith Conference

will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from

8:30 am until 3:30 pm at St. Philip Church in

Franklin. (Doors open at 7:30 am) The cost of $40

includes a delicious box lunch! ($45 at the door)

For high school & college students the cost is $25

which also includes lunch.

The day begins with Mass celebrated by Bishop

David Choby. The speakers this year include: Judy

Hehr, Rebecca Dussault, and Eileen Benthal.

Break away and come be blessed. Take time for the

spiritual part of you! Come be inspired and

uplifted!

There will be hand-outs at the back of Church for

more information.
