1.
Introductions and Updates
Meet new coalition members and hear updates from community partners.
Several New members from different organizations
None
2.
Orrville Parade
Discuss the success of the event and any possible changes for future similar type events
Luke advised the members that the parade took place in June. We had a float with 10 participants on the float or walking with the float. We had the new drive sober or get pulled over signs posted on the float. The parade is well attended and
takes over an hour to drive it. Overall it was very successful.
Plan on participating next year.
3.
Seatbelt Surveys
Discuss the surveys and get volunteers to participate
Suzanne discussed the surveys are coming up and Wayne county has 19 targeted sites to survey. We discussed the “how to” conduct a
survey. We told members that we would be sending out a list of sites and other resources used to conduct the surveys.
Have members sign up to conduct surveys. Train any new member wanting to help
in the surveys.

County Fair
Finalize plans with the Sheriff’s Office for the fair booth.
Cap. Hunter advised that he would figure out a schedule or work a time when it was good for
members to be present in the booth to assist in manning the booth.
Get the schedule information from Cap. Hunter and
distribute it out to coalition members.
5.
DSGPO campaign
Discuss the kickoff event. Cap. Hunter showed the members the “infomercial” he has been making. He has filmed many law enforcement officers around the
county, citizens and a judge all speaking to
driving sober or getting pulled over. The video is not finished but will be finished and released a few days before the campaign is to start. The Daily Record will be running a story on the PSA. Suzanne handed out campaign material for members to take and hang up at any location
they thought was appropriate.
After the release of the video, post it to the facebook pages and advertise it to others
pages.
6.
Governors Highway Safety Task force
Conference
Discuss the upcoming conference Suzanne advised the members that the grant is sending Luke and Suzanne to the Conference. She advised that there would probably be a lot of information and new things brought back from
this conference that we can use in the next grant
year. She advised that the grant as of this morning was in the pre approval stage.

Guest Speaker
Ken Riggs Ken discussed a new medical safety tool for first responders and other individuals that may be
involved in a motor vehicle crash or any other type of medical emergency where the patient’s medical information is very important. A usb device that contains all the medical data on the person can be carried and it will give EMS or ER’s the information they need to help treat the
person.

Fatal Crash Review
4 Crashes were reviewed Members reviewed 4 crashes. Two crashes are still pending investigations and will be concluded at the next review. The first crash was a motorcycle crash. Nathan Cummings was
operating a motorcycle on SR 83 southbound. He exited at the ramp to SR 585 where he failed to

negotiate the curve of the exit ramp. He slid off the road and was ejected from the bike. His
helmet was found about 40 feet beyond where he layed. Speed was the deciding factor in this crash. The second crash was a older female who was westbound on Smithville Western Road. She ran through two road closed ahead signs and struck a parked dump truck that was parked on a
closed road due to a bridge repair. Betty Spencer
was the driver and is believed to have been having some sort of medical problem because she drove through the two barricades but yet managed to “tap” her brakes twice and continue driving in straight line staying inside her lane of travel, then striking the dump truck. Her
toxicology levels were in the normal ranges.
