Building a Cradle-to-College and Career Pathway
Modeled loosely after the Harlem Children’s Zone, City of Promise is a
Promise Neighborhood initiative that provides a cradle-through-college and career continuum of
solutions to permanently improve the educational and developmental outcomes of children and youth in the 10th & Page, Westhaven, and
Starr Hill neighborhoods.

Academic Achievement
Roots to Wings was the initiative’s first official
partnership implementing a parent education to
encourage healthy child development and tools for
successful parenting program that served 4 cohorts, including 26
parents and 47 children.
Parent Empowerment
STEAM Afterschool Program
It is a drop-in afterschool program for youth in grades K-12 in the City of Promise Community. STEAM is in
coordination with Burnley-Moran Elementary School
and other partners and includes a homework-help
and tutoring and emphasizes a STEAM curriculum (Science,
Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).
Pathway Coaching Program
Children and families who are enrolled into Pathway Coaching will be enrolled by a coach and a GPS or comprehensive game plan will be developed to ensure success of the family served.
