DraftProcess:FutureRenamingRequestsFutureschoolrenamingrequestsmustbesubmittedinwritingtotheArlingtonSchoolBoard,includingthefollowing:

• Statementofthereasonforrequestingnametobechanged;• Iftherequestisbasedonobjectionstothecurrentschoolname– shouldindicatehowthecurrentnamedoesnotalignwiththeAPSSchoolNamingCriteria.Inthistypeofcase,includehistoricalorotherevidencetosupporttherequest.

Iftherequestisnotapproved,theapplicantwillbeinformed.

IftheSchoolBoarddeterminesthatfurtherreviewisneeded:• SchoolBoardmayappointacommitteetoreviewtherequest.• ThecommitteeshouldapplytheSchoolNamingPolicyCriteria,obtainadvice/consultationasneeded,andsolicitinputfromtheschoolandcommunity.
