INTERNATIONAL SCORA TEAM

This year we have started our WAD activities on 30th November with a sports event. The ice-hock-ey season has just started and we used the popularity of this sport to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and even more important, to convey our message of a safer sex among the fans. We attended the home match of Vienna Capitals and by courtesy of the team we were allowed to put huge red ribbon on the ice during the break. Meanwhile stadium speaker read the text com-posed by SCORAngels about HIV/AIDS facts and pointed condom use out. The message reached some

3 500 fans. We had lots of fun and the action was well received. Our next plans are distribution of condoms and flyers on Xmas mar-kets, participation in Candlelight memorial organised by PLWHIV/A, airing Transit at the University, at-taching of red ribbons on white coats of the stuff at University Hos-pital and the last but not least, WAD Party, for the first time in Vienna!!!TinaSojatLORA Vienna

I’m Sofia Gancheva, LORA for Sofia, Bulgaria :) I’d like to talk to you about an interesting event that my NMO (AMSB) has recently organized! From 13th to 18th of October in Sofia, a SCORA project named “European Youth & Reproductive Health” took place. It was Action 4.3 Training Course within the Youth in Action programme of the European Commission.

Boris Mladenov (AMSB’s president), Vasia Dermend-zhieva and I were the project coordinators. Our NMO ap-plied for the grant of 18 000 EUR in June and got it :) We had around two months of preparations for the event.

“European Youth & Reproductive Health” was a training course for 26 medical students from Finland, Italy, Hun-gary, Latvia, Turkey, Romania, Malta, Austria & Bulgaria.

The participants had exciting workshops on discrimi-nation against HIV+ people & homosexuals, violence against women, contraception in EU... They also shared in sessions on reproductive health advocacy, project plan-ning and team building conducted by Y-Peer trainers.

It was an amazing opportunity for us to organize this project. We had so much fun sharing experiences with the 26 great participants and are looking forward to collaborate with more SCORA people in the future in new ideas and projects

All the best, Sofia
