The Chamber will be presenting its Large, Small
and Home Based Businesses of the Year
awards in April and we are looking for nomina-
tions.
These prestigious accolades not only honor the
winners, they shine the spotlight on all three
finalists in each category.
The Businesses of the Year Awards are open to
all companies which have been a Chamber
member, in good standing, for at least one year.
We are looking for businesses which:
Exhibit good business practices
Demonstrate quality of service
Contribute to the local economy and growth
Show community support and involvement
Provide an overall positive impact in the
community
A nominating committee made up of three
members of the Chamber’s Ambassadors Com-
mittee, a member of the Board of Directors and
Executive Director Amanda Baillie will draw up
a list of nominees.
Chamber members are also actively encour-
aged to self nominate. We will also take nomi-
nations from the public.
The committee will then review all applications
and narrow them down to three in each cate-
gory.
The winners will be chosen via a public email
vote before being announced at the Chamber’s
Annual Installation and Awards Dinner at Thun-
der Mountain Activity Center on Thursday, April
25.

taking the time to learn
about how the Chamber

ing our attention to a num-
ber of events and programs
coming up in the next few
weeks and months.

& Lifestyle Fair is filling up
fast and we are looking for-
ward to providing another
great show that highlights
the business community.

We are also launching our an-
nual search for the Large,
Small and Home Based Busi-
nesses of the Year.
There are many worthy busi-
nesses among our more than
610 members who could be
the recipients of these awards.
Don’t be shy in nominating your
business. Both the finalists and
the winners receive free expo-
sure through the publicity lead-
ing up to the presentation. And
the pay off for the winners,
bragging rights aside, can often
translate to an increase in their
bottom line.
The nomination form is straight
forward and it’s well worth tak-
ing the time to fill one out.
The awards will be announced
at the Annual Installation and
Awards Dinner on April 25 and
we are planning to make this a
glamorous, spectacular and
memorable evening. Look out for

Our first Military Affairs luncheon
of 2013 will be held on Wednes-
day, February 6, at Fort Hua-
chuca. If you have not been to
one of these events before, make
a point of doing so. You’re miss-
ing great networking opportuni-
ties and the chance to mingle
with our brave soldiers. Don’t for-
get to RSVP.
Another excellent chance to net-
work is offered at the next Busi-
ness at Twilight, which this month
will be held on Tuesday, February
12, and not the usual second
Thursday because that is Valen-
tine’s Day.
This event will be hosted by
Cochise Oncology which has a
fantastic facility on Highway 90.

Dream Your City
Can you imagine Sierra Vista in the next 10 to
20 years?
The City of Sierra Vista is inviting the commu-nity to dream about the future of Sierra Vista and share ideas with each other, City officials, and key organization leaders by participating in
Dream Your City.
Suggestions provided through the Dream Your City visioning process will help lay the founda-tion for the next state-required general plan,
Vista 2030.
The general plan is used as a foundation for the City Council’s bi-annual Strategic Leadership Plan, helping to set priorities and yearly budget
expenditures.
The Vista 2030 plan is targeted for voter consid-
eration in the fall of 2014.
There are several ways to participate in Dream Your City. Computer savvy residents can sub-mit their ideas online by visiting the City’s web-site at www.SierraVistaAZ.gov, and clicking on the “Dream Your City” icon on the homepage. Through the linked, on-line community engage-ment tool, participants can submit new ideas, “second” their agreement with an idea already
posted by other residents, or offer comments.
Residents can also host a gathering in their home, church, club or business, have a discus-sion and submit ideas through the Dream with your Neighbor program by downloading instruc-
tions from the website or picking up a packet
and DVD at City Hall, 1011 N. Coronado Drive.
Residents can also attend a public meeting to
share their ideas for the future.

Challenge yourself, take action and become
a leader by signing up for Leadership Boot
Camp.
Since the late 1990s the Chamber has run
its very successful Leadership Sierra Vista
program.
Many of the graduates have asked about a
second program to help them develop their
leadership skills beyond the days they spend
out and about in the community.
Leadership Boot Camp is the answer to that
feedback.
Participants will spend two days at Fort Hua-
chuca with leadership and coaching profes-
sionals developing a personal leadership
action plan, as well as learning how to de-
velop their team.
With Fort Huachuca on our doorstep, we
could not think of a better example of active
leadership and we wanted to take advantage
of that resource to further help our current
and future leaders.
Leadership Boot Camp will focus on team
building skills and practical instruction de-
signed to better prepare participants to lead
in both their professional and personal lives.
It will be interactive, motivational and inspira-
tional.
We believe this two-day program can be com-
pared to the type of corporate training that
can cost thousands of dollars to participate
in.
However, we are offering Leadership Boot
Camp for an introductory price of just $249.

Dear Valued Partner:
We are pleased to share with you some excit-
ing news about the future of Sierra Vista Re-
gional Health Center and the delivery of
healthcare services in our community.
Effective January 15, 2013, Sierra Vista Re-
gional Health Center (SVRHC) has signed a
letter of intent with RegionalCare Hospital
Partners through a lease of operations.
RegionalCare, based in Brentwood, Tennes-
see, specializes in the operation of rural com-
munity hospitals. The partnership is expected
to be final on or about April 30, 2013.
For more than ten years, SVRHC’s board of
trustees has recognized the need to build a
new hospital to expand the medical services
available within Sierra Vista and the sur-
rounding area. However, changes in federal
and state reimbursements have made it im-
possible to secure the capital needed to build
a new facility. SVRHC needed the help of a
major partner.
RegionalCare was chosen over other candi-
dates for its ability to meet three key goals:
Build a new, state-of-the-art medical
facility
Maintain significant local control over
decisions affecting the quality and deliv-
ery of services
Be committed to working with the hospi-
tal’s physicians and staff
This agreement provides the resources re-
quired to build a new, approximately 100-bed
hospital on SVRHC’s east campus. Ground-
breaking is planned to occur later this year
with construction requiring about three years.
The agreement also ensures local residents
access to quality healthcare for the foresee-
able future.
SVRHC will honor existing contracts with our
vendors. We remain committed to working
with local businesses and supporting the
area’s economy.
This partnership will not have a negative im-
pact on local employment or community in-
volvement in guiding SVRHC’s future.
RegionalCare will maintain a board of trus-
tees at SVRHC comprised solely of local busi-
ness and community leaders, physicians and
the hospital’s CEO. Current board members
will have the opportunity to continue their
oversight and service to the community. All
employees will continue to be employed by
SVRHC. All employees will receive resources,
benefits, and support from RegionalCare.
There are no plans to reduce SVRHC staff as
a result of this agreement.
For members of our community, this will be a
seamless transition. The hospital’s name will
not change. SVRHC will continue to be a Joint
Commission Accredited community hospital
with outpatient surgery and imaging centers,
outpatient rehabilitation offices, an outpa-
tient laboratory/infusion/hospice center, and
outpatient clinics in Sonoita, Tombstone and
Douglas. Some services may be expanded or
other services added depending upon the
community’s needs and the availability of
required medical personnel.
SVRHC and RegionalCare are committed to
providing high quality healthcare to you, your
family and the communities we serve. We
value our relationship with you and other
members of our community.

Office Smart, a regional supplier of office
products and supplies, is proud to an-
nounce that its president, Glenn McDan-
iel, has been elected the 2013 Chair of
the National Office Product Alliance
(NOPA), the national association for of-
fice products dealers for more than 100
years.
As Chair, McDaniel will provide leader-
ship with the Board of Governors and
NOPA staff in setting 2013 priorities
and planning and executing NOPA’s gov-
ernment advocacy efforts, product data
standards and other industry initiatives.
After graduating from Texas A&M Univer-
sity, McDaniel held various financial and
management positions in both depart-
ment store and grocery store chains,
culminating as Vice President, Finance
and Operations for a $1 billion grocery
store chain in Arizona. After a merger
eliminated his position, Glenn and his
wife Diane founded Office Smart in 1993
and also opened an Alphagraphics print-
shop franchise in 1998.
“Glenn’s years of experience and finan-
cial background make him ideally suited
to help the association which is now
coming through the recession and begin-
ning to see the light at the end of the
economic tunnel,” said Alicia Ellis,
NOPA’s Director of Communications.
“Glenn has proven himself to be a small
business advocate and role model for
business excellence.”
Office Smart has been awarded several
local and regional awards, including
Chamber Business of the Year and BBB
Regional Torch Award for Ethics in Busi-
ness. Glenn has held various volunteer
leadership positions including President
of the Sierra Vista Chamber of Com-
merce, Chairman of the Cochise County
United Way, and Chairman of the re-
gional Boy Scouts Board.
“I look forward to continuing to tout the
benefits of independent business on a
national level,” said McDaniel. “NOPA
has been very successful in the last few
years focusing on small business access
to federal, state, and local government
procurement and I am proud to lead this
prestigious organization into the future.”

Local input wanted on study to address traffic congestion
Sierra Vista Office Smart President Named to Head Industry Association
The City of Sierra Vista and the Ari-zona Department of Transportation will host a public meeting on Feb. 7 to re-ceive input for an ongoing study to identify options for improving traffic flow by reducing the number of motor-ists who drive alone to work or school.
The study team for the Sierra Vista Transportation Efficiency Study, which began in June 2012, has recently ad-ministered a survey to workers at the city’s major employers and to the gen-eral public.
The results have been tabulated to better understand people’s habits and opinions regarding their commutes. Information from these surveys is be-ing used to develop a Travel Reduc-tion Plan for the city.
The study team will provide updated information on the results of the sur-veys and share information on prelimi-nary strategies for addressing traffic congestion in Sierra Vista over the next 20 years through programs de-signed to meet short-, medium- and long-term needs.
Two of the city’s goals focused on re-ducing reliance on single-occupancy vehicle trips.
The meeting is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Windemere Hotel, 2047 South Highway 92 in Sierra Vista.
The formal presentation is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. with a question-and-answer session afterward.
Members of the study team, com-prised of planners from the City of Si-erra Vista and ADOT, will be available to answer questions. Display boards and hand-out materials will also pro-vide information on the study.
The federally funded study, adminis-tered by ADOT, was initiated by the city as part of their Strategic Leader-ship Plan, which identified five trans-portation goals to meet quality of life needs in the community.

You can also research articles
or find “filler” articles by access-
ing the World Wide Web. You
can write about a variety of
topics but try to keep your arti-
cles short.
Much of the content you put in
your newsletter can also be
used for your Web site. Micro-
soft Publisher offers a simple
way to convert your newsletter
to a Web publication. So, when
you’re finished writing your
newsletter, convert it to a Web
site and post it.
Microsoft Publisher includes
thousands of clip art images
from which you can choose and
import into your newsletter.
There are also several tools you
can use to draw shapes and
symbols.
Once you have chosen an im-
age, place it close to the article.
Be sure to place the caption of
the image near the image.
This story can fit 75-125 words.
Selecting pictures or graphics is
an important part of adding
content to your newsletter.
Think about your article and ask
yourself if the picture supports
or enhances the message
you’re trying to convey. Avoid
selecting images that appear to
be out of context.
