Who is Who?
Goals
Ice-breaking activity to meet partners through a guessing game
Activity for the beginning of any project: any subject, upper-lower secondary, can be adapted to pupils’ level.
Steps
Length of activity: 2h
Phase 1: first take a group photo, then add numbers to the photo. Can be done by the teacher or a by a pupil, depending on their age.
Phase 2: project the photo or give each pupil a copy of the picture. Each pupil writes a short description of her/himself and gives to the teacher for correction.
Phase 3: in the computer room, pupils type their descriptions (text files).
Phase 4: teacher collects pupils’ description and sends them to the partners, using the Twinspace. A pupil « administrator » can also do this task.
Incorporation in lessons plans
Review physical descriptions, colors, prepositions + present-tense Be and Have (beginning of the school year).

After the activity « Who is who ? », at the beginning of the project.
Organization
Time spent on the activity: 2h
Phase 1: each pupil gets a worksheet to fill out by hand (at home if possible)
Phase 2: pupils hand in their worksheet. Major errors are identified and pupils correct their work.
Phase 3: in the computer room, pupils type their presentations and save their work on flash drives/USB sticks.
Phase 4: teacher or pupil administrator collects documents and sends them through the Twinspace.

Review how to describe yourself, how to describe your family, your hobbies and hopes for a future (using criteria from European Framework for Language Learning CECRL)

Phase 1: in teams, pupils brainstorm questions to ask and find answers
Phase 2: in computer room, pupils do research for websites in English to help partners find correct responses
Phase 3: teacher or pupil administrator corrects questions and resource websites and sends them to partners through the Twinspace.
