Sliding HillS CHarolaiSAlong with Glen and Lori, we would like to invite you all to our 7th Annual Size Matters Charolais Bull Sale. The bulls on offer are bred to meet the demands of today’s progressive cattlemen.

Our cow herd is managed with common sense in mind. Our cows and bred heifers are fed free choice grass/alfalfa hay during the winter months and have salt and mineral available throughout the year. Our purebred and commercial females are treated the same. They are expected to calf, rebreed within a 9 to 10 week period, and raise a quality calf in fall. The sound productive cows are retained and the others are culled. Easy fleshing, deep bodied, good footed females with above average udder type are what you’ll find around here.

The sires we use are selected from reputation herds. Our demands are just as high as those of our customers. Ease of calving, muscle and overall soundness along with above average scrotal and masculinity can’t be overlooked. Our sale bulls meet these credentials. Regardless of their birth weight, they were all born unassisted aside from one mal-presentation. These full bodied bulls have a square hip and all the tools to get the job done. They were pail fed pellets and given free choice grass/alfalfa hay to ensure proper rumen development and overall growth. Our customers want their purchases to last and we expect the same.

Our cows are our factories. Maximum production can be obtained by good management practices and cross breeding. Cross breeding with Charolais bulls will bring premiums, the demand is still stronger than supply.

We have been privileged to provide Carey & Lee Ann Weinbender with veterinary services for the past 13 years. They are very caring and compassionate people, and they take exceptional care of their cattle.

Their herd is on a full vaccination program. Cows are vaccinated pre-breeding with Bovi-Shield Gold FP5 & Anthrax, and pre-calving with Scour Bos 9. For additional disease protection newborn calves are vaccinated with Somnu-Star Ph & Inforce 3. Prior to pasture turnout calves receive Bovi-Shield Gold FP5, Anthrax, and Covexin Plus. They receive booster vaccinations in the fall. Their bulls are up to date with Bovi-Shield Gold FP5, Anthrax, and Covexin Plus. All sale bulls receive initial and booster vaccinations of foot rot vaccine prior to the bull sale.

Jordan rivEr CHarolaiS Welcome to our 7th Annual Size Matters Bull Sale. It is again a pleasure to work with Carey and LeeAnn at Sliding Hills Charolais to offer you this selection of Bulls. We would like to extend a big Thank You to all past and future customers for showing interest in our programs.

It seems the cattle business has its share of challenges, but at the end of the day good genetics will always pay off. Charolais sired calves are in demand now and will be in the future.

In 2012, the North East received a record amount of rain fall with around 25 inches. Too much water!!!! As a result our pastures and grass were under wa-ter. Water and Mosquitoes had a detrimental effect on our weaning weights but by sale day these Bulls will be ready to go to work!

You will notice we have a couple of new Sires in the lineup. We are excited to offer you their progeny. They will pass on calving ease, decent growth and great muscle expression. We are also AI’ing to our Red Mist Bull. He sires calves that get up and grow!!
