Welcome to Elder Charolais 1st Annual Bull Sale. We have talked about them doing a bull sale for a few years but theywanted to have the quality in numbers before they moved forward. They have both the quality and numbers for youto select from this year. In the past, they have topped the Regina Bull Sale and sold the rest of the bulls privately offthe yard.

I have watched the Elder Charolais herd grow and evolve since the first purebred Charolais they bought 20 years ago.They have always put quality first in both their female and herdbull selection. Many sale high sellers found their wayto the Elder operation which has produced great results. They have used their knowledge and experience in the commercial industry to guide their purebred herd. As a result they are producing bulls with meat and performancethat sire the sale topping quality Charcross calves with lots of pounds. There is something for everyone in this offeringfrom calving ease to high performance, polled or horned, red factor or white.

This is truly a family operation, with everyone working together, both at home and on the show road where their cattle have stood at the top of the class. They are great people to visit and deal with and if you don't know them, youwill enjoy getting to know and working with them down the road.

We would like to extend a very sincere welcome to our first Annual Bull Sale and thank allthose in the cattle business that have been here to support us along the way. We

celebrate 20 years this spring in the purebred business. We purchased our first purebred females from Darneth Charolais, Ken and Darlene Plewis, from Pennant, Saskatchewan. 9 cow-calf pairs and 10 bred heifers arrived that spring and have grown to over 130 calvingfemales. Charolais bulls have been a part of the Elder program for over 4 decades and now 4 generations. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the cattle men andwomen for their belief in what we all do for a living and hanging on during some very tryingtimes. The light at the end of the tunnel is now getting brighter.

We are proud to put this package of strong genetics before you. Our cowherd has beencarefully selected, bred, culled and refined to provide the Charolais bulls we have in this offering. We believe the set of characteristics these bulls are comprised of are what commercial and purebred breeders alike are seeking to add to their own bull batteries. Wehave continuously worked on developing performance (without sacrificing calving ease),super feet, excellent testicle development, lots of hair, and a very good disposition. All ofthese must be there to stay in the bull pen. These are the same key elements we use ourselves when investing in herd sires. We believe these bulls will go out and go to workfor you; working to give you the calf crop that will provide new depth to your herd and increase your profit margin. We have listened to our bull buyers’ requirements and hope

that we can successfully meet your needs now and in the future.

It has been our decision to operate this sale right at the farm and use a Power Point display. It will be less stress for the animals and the people. There will be no animals brought through the ring during the sale. They will be on display in pensin front of the barn for you to walk through prior to the sale. You are also invited to come to the yard any day before thesale to go through the bull pen at your convenience. Coffee is always on (well, Ron can put it on) and visitors are alwayswelcome. In closing we would like to say that we are honored to be part of the Charolais breed and actively involved in the Charolaisindustry. NotesTerms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after thesale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the saleclerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not passuntil final payment is made.Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend thesale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bullwill freeze.Exception Guarantee: In the case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies afterthe animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In noevent shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.
