Welcome to March atSMA Vehicle RemarketingAs the new 14 plate cars appear on our roadsthis month, the expectation is of yet anotherincrease in new car sales. The motor retailsector has helped to drive the UK’s economicrecovery, with the growth in new cars beingmirrored in the sale of used cars. Thefeedback from our many used car retailercolleagues is that now we are seeingcustomers who ‘want’ to change their car, asopposed to those who ‘needed’ to change,which was often the case in recent years.The increased new car activity is certainly seeing veryencouraging growth in the range of used cars comingthrough the SMA network. We have welcomed numerousnew vendors and a significant uplift in activity from ourmany long-term vendor customers. Another notabletrend is an increase in pre-sale preparation. It clearlyworks for our buyers.
This year we have seen successive 100%conversion sales at many of our auctions;something that has undoubtedly been helped by theavailability of stock funding monies for dealers across ourauction centre network.
So as we head towards the March peak ourteams across the UK are ready.Secure storage, transport and distribution are in placeand our proven logistical expertise in preparing andselling stock are already prepared for what we alreadyknow will be a very busy period.
