XVII th Sunday in Ordinary Time - July 26, 2015 Dear Friends, As we celebrate the feast of St Anne, we celebrate the Providence of God who comes to bless and to save us. It is accomplished through our daily tasks entrusted to us at home and in our work places. Through the inter-cession of St Anne and St Joachim, we ask God for strength and good health for all grandparents, may they continue to prepare a place for Jesus in our homes, in our hearts and in the lives of all who are entrusted to them. St. Anne intercede for our Parish and our families, may we always do God’s will in our lives and be a place of welcome to Christ himself. In the readings for this Sunday we hear about the Providence of God, who nourishes his people with abundance of food and riches of the earth. God gives more than enough for all humanity to share with each other. Jesus multiplies the bread and fish to nourish those who follow him. Today he continues to strengthen us with His Body and His Blood, so that we may have the strength and grace to bring his love and his food to those who hunger and thirst for bread and for God. Jesus asks us to “gather all fragments so that nothing will be wasted”, so let us be good stewards of the blessings entrusted to us as St Anne and St. Joachim were. I want to share with you the prayer of St. Ignatius of Loyola from the Spiritual Exercises.

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,

my memory, my understanding and my entire will,

all that I have and possess.

You have given all to me to you, Lord, I return it.

All is yours;

do with it what you will.

Give me only your love and your grace,

that is enough for me.

God Bless,

Fr. Stan

XVII Domingo en T.O.

Amigos,

Dame sólo tu amor y tu gracia,

que es suficiente para mí.

FEEDING THE WORLD With today’s two accounts of feeding miracles and the psalm response about the Lord’s hand feeding us, it is easy to gloss over the marvelous hymn in Ephesians.

It is built around the most potent biblical numbers: one, three, and seven. The core of it is the word “one” expressed seven times. Three of these describe the

church: one body, one Spirit, one hope: the next three are the foundations of the church: one Lord (Jesus), one faith, one baptism. All of these are bound up togeth-er in the one Father of all. While we might feel daunted by the prospect of dupli-

cation the wonders worked by Elisha and Jesus in the feeding of multitudes, Ephe-sians gives us a more realistic way to live and “feed” others as the church; by living in humility and gentle-

ness, by acting with patience, bearing with each other in love, and always seeking and striving to preserve uni-ty through peace. Who among us cannot increase the way we “feed” the church and the world by living this

way? We are always called upon to “feed” the world in the literal sense; but our mission as church tells us that others are also fed by the way we live and act each moment of each day.

Attention All High School Grads, Parents and

Grandparents

Our Teens are becoming Young Adults—starting college with a lifetime of opportunities in front of them. There will be many choices that they will

make during the next 4 years, let’s help them to stay connected to their faith while they are making those choices!

Let’s help our young people keep a faith connection while they are in college. Many will be away from home and out on their own, what better way to help them stay grounded and give them a safe place to meet new friends than through their University’s Newman Center.

Newman Centers are Catholic ministry centers at non-Catholic universities throughout the country. These Centers provide pastoral

services and ministries to their Catholic student population. Through the Newman Connection,

students are connected to their Campus Minister and invited to join Catholic Campus Ministry—this becomes their faith community away

from home! It’s simple to make that connection—the only information that is required is the student’s first and last name and the name of the

college or university they will be attending in September.

Then send this information to Marianne Sheridan, Director for Youth Ministry at

[email protected]. This information will be forwarded to the proper Newman Center and your teen will be welcomed

in the fall when they arrive at their school. Let’s keep our Young Church connected and committed

to their faith!

Bulletin Reflection “The hand of the Lord feeds us,” says the

Psalmist, “he answers all our needs.” Both Elisha’s servant in the first reading and the disciples in the Gospel story who witnessed the feeding of the five thousand saw this happen and knew it to be true.

Living Stewardship We are grateful this week for all stewards in our

parish who feed the hungry through efforts such as Long Island Cares, Harry Chapin Food Bank and

our own Parish Outreach Pantry!
