Title: ______________

1) Who are the main characters in the book? eg. The main characters in the

book are…………………

2) Where is the story mainly taking place (setting)? 3) What is the main problem in this story? WRITING – Planning

Watch the video of Olga the Brolga again. Today we are going to be planning our letter to Olga on why nobody wanted to dance with her because she was being rude. Things to think of: Who was upset at Olga? Which words could we use to effectively tell Olga the reasons? What do I think about her behaviour? Write this all down onto the planning sheet for today. It is a different one from yesterday’s one. Remember to use dot points and short phrases!

WRITING – Composing

Using the planning sheet from

yesterday, start composing your

writing

Things to be using for your

composing is your plan. Have it

next to you! It will help you

compose and have all your

great ideas on the side.

Use persuasive words!

Remember, Olga won’t be

reading your letter if you don’t

book. Use a dictionary to find and write the meaning of each word. You can use the online dictionary below if you don’t have a dictionary at home. http://wordcentral.com/ WRITING - Editing and Revising Today you will be adding details to your letter to make it more persuasive. Things to think about: - Olga needs a lot of information for her to know why she needs to change her behaviour. - The more information you add in, the easier she will understand. Imagine if your mum or dad told you that you were doing something wrong. You would like to know more information, right? When it is time to edit, focus on checking for spelling mistakes, full stops and capital letters. Then look out for where you could be using exclamation marks, commas, and also make sure it makes sense!

5. Ferdinand the

____________ was the kindest

animal you would ever meet.

6. Before I go to bed and lay

my head on my ____________,

mum and dad will always give

me a __________ and a kiss.

READING Read a non-fiction

text/information book. Write

down 3-5 important facts from

your book. Title: ______________ 1)…

WRITING- Publishing Now that you’re on the last part of writing for the week, you will be publishing your work neatly and clearly so Olga can read it! She will need to be able to read or hear your writing so she can see why she needs to change. You may use a computer to type it up, fancy paper to write it, or even record yourself reading your letter to Olga!

This week, we will be writing a

persuasive piece of writing to

tell Olga why her behaviour is

not acceptable and why nobody

wanted to dance with her.

Watch the video of the reading

Olga the Brolga.

Using the table, write down how

Olga is behaving, how Olga

looked, and how Olga’s

behaviour affects others.

sound convincing. Use words

such as: Should must, definitely,

I think, I believe, it is important,

please.

Also, start by writing Dear Olga

– To tell who you are writing to.

Then finish with who it is from!

Olga needs to know who is

writing to her.

Today you are going to do a

Mass experiment to see

which objects are heavier

https://www.youtube.com/w

atch?v=Q3kX0di4UrM

Choose 3-5 objects around

your house to weigh.

Compare the masses of

objects using your hands then

have them arrange them in

order from the lightest to

heaviest. Write a sentence in

your book about the objects

you have weighed in your

hand. E.g. The block is lighter

than the ball.

-2 paper or plastic cups

-scissors or hole punch

What to do:

1. Find somewhere to

hang your coat

hanger. E.g. A

cupboard door.

2. Using a hole punch

or scissors make two

small holes on either

side of the cup. Cut

two equal lengths of

string and tie to the

cup to make a

bucket. If you are

using plastic cups

you can just sticky

tape the string on

instead of cutting

holes.

3. Find different

objects to fill each

cup. Do you know

which one will be

heavier?

4. Put the cups on the

hanger. The one that

hangs the lowest is

the heaviest.

5. Now find more

objects to weigh.

weight of the objects.

E.g. The Toy weighs nearly

the same as the ball.

Test the model’s strength- Today you are going to test the strength of your model bridge by driving a car across it. First you are going to predict (hypothesis) if your planned design (drawing) and building (finished model) meet the purpose of being a strong bridge, and can carry the weight or drive a car across it. Then-

• conduct an experiment

• record the results

• share the findings by posting pictures and videos onto Seesaw

PDHPE SPORT Get your body moving in this Would You Rather fitness video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOgcrNrtfpo Dice Fitness Use these 6 fitness exercises or come up with your own.
