Stages of development- Front Cover

Page 2: Stages of development for front cover

I placed this background image in to photo shop, this image hasn’t been edited and no effects have been added, I took the photo myself of a female that I think is suitable for my genre. I made the girl pose to look down at the camera so when it is presented on the cover she is looking directly at the audience.

To create my Masthead on my front cover I inserted a text box to write the word base, I changed the font style to Engravers MT and changed the font size to 189.42 I then stretched the text across the top of the page so each letter looks wider. The Masthead doesn’t have any effects.

I then created my main cover line which is about the artist on the background, the text in white is the font style Perpetua tilting MT its in a font size 21pt and is also in bold, I moved the text around on different lines to make it look more interesting. I have used the font Segoe script for the words ‘Pipa Stone’ in a font size 48pt I have used a blue colour to make it stand out from the rest of the text so that the reader can see who the artist is.

With this cover line I have used a large number 10 to make it stand out, the colour red links the front cover with my contents page as the text on there is red I have used the same font for the other words except for 2013 I want this to stand out as it’s the new year and the readers will want to find out new information about upcoming stars of this year, it will lure them in as its something they’ve not read before.

My next cover line is to advertise Rihanna's new album I have used the same font two of the words and then changed the font so that its similar to the font used on her album cover, I have tried to make the font look prettier rather than bulky as my target audience is for females.

This Beyoncé cover line includes a number of font types I have used a quotation from a Beyoncé interview that I have researched I have also mixed in the font type used throughout so that comparisons and links between the texts can be seen. I have also used the colour red again so that it links with the other piece of text and used the word exclusive so that he readers feel the need to buy it as no one else will know this secret piece of information.

I then added the FREE INSIDE 15 must have downloads, I have chosen to give away a free gift in my magazine as it will help the sales, I have put it in capital letters so that it stands out and this just may persuade those unsure readers to purchase it.

The final stage of creating my front cover was to add a barcode I did this by simply placing a Google image onto my magazine and then I added a date and price either side of it in the same italic font used throughout my magazine.
