Summer ChecklistWith more free time in the summer, you can finally check off action items from your list that might have taken a back seat during the school year. Not sure where to start? Take a look at our list of five health- and benefits-related to-dos. If any of these are on your list, pick up that phone or tablet. You can get started while lounging on the couch!

Schedule a preventive care exam, and earn Go365 Points.

You can always guess, but you’ll never know the true state of your health without preventive care. Eligible preventive care is 100% covered in-network through HCPS Humana medical (including a FREE eye exam) and dental plans. If you are enrolled in the Humana Vision Care Plan, you pay a $5 copay for an eye exam and you can receive lens and frame benefits for a $10 copay. You can also earn Go365 Points for each preventive care exam! Contact your provider to schedule an appointment.

Update your phone number and address in the LTM Employee Space.

Throughout the year, Humana sends important health care messages using voice-activated technology and by mail. Follow these steps to stay in the know:

Go to Education Connection at edconnect.sdhc.k12.fl.us. Select the LTM Employee Space icon. Use your Lawson number for your User Name and enter your Password. Choose Manage My Profile, scroll down to the area you would like to update (phone number, address, etc.), double-click on the item, then change the information in the screen that opens. Click OK. You’ll be glad you did!

Visit sdhc.selfservicenow.com, the one-stop shop for everything benefits related.

After you log in, you can get general benefits information or details about your coverage. You can also update your security questions and beneficiary information and manage your Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). The resources and tools on sdhc.selfservicenow.com can help you make sound benefits and insurance decisions.

Should your new elections result in increased insurance premiums, your additional premiums will accumulate over the summer and increase your payroll deductions in September when you start receiving a paycheck again.

Get a head start and make insurance premium payments during the summer to avoid increased deductions in September. When you make a change during the summer break, Aon Hewitt will automatically send premium payment coupons to you. Sign up for 30-day FREE coverage for your newborn.

Under Florida statute you can receive 30 days of FREE medical insurance for your newborn. To enroll your baby for the 30-day free coverage period, call Employee Benefits at 813-272-4174. For long-term coverage for your newborn, call the Aon Hewitt Call Center at 866-522-9133. Please remember you will need to provide documentation to cover your newborn.

Retirement UpdateRoth 403(b) Retirement Savings Accounts Did you know you can contribute to your retirement through convenient payroll deductions? While both you and the District contribute to the Florida Retirement System (FRS), the 3% of pay you contribute is far from the total allowed by the IRS. In January, the District made available after-tax payroll deductions into a Roth 403(b) retirement savings account.

Please speak with your financial advisor or tax consultant to see if contributing to a retirement savings account makes sense for you.
