container. Have fun drawing or making a crocodile face on top.Make letter cards (Alphabet) Uppercase, lowercase, from paper or cardboard (use cereal boxes or cookies). Put the cards inside the crocodile container. At playing time, say the following verse:Crocodile, crocodile down by lake,I’m going to reach right in and see what (letter) you ate.

   This week CORE word is “turn”

Have your child pick a favorite book and take a few

minutes to look at it together. After reading or talking about each picture, model the phrase “Turn the

page” while you turn the page. Continue to model this

 Pick a song your child enjoys dancing too and use the core word to give directions or comment about what you are doing.

For example: TURN on music, TURN up volume, TURN down volume, TURN around

Communication & Language:  In today’s social-emotional activity, model language by talking about the movements in hand-washing.

For example: TURN the water on, Turn your hands over, My TURN for

soap, TURN water off.

 Have some fun gently sabotaging your child’s routine by “turning” their clothes inside out, holding a book backwards or offering them a cup upside down. Help them problem-solve these silly situations and tell you to “turn” them.

 If you have any play tools (or can supervise your child with real, smaller tools) use the word TURN while pretending to build a house or fix an object.

You can use the CORE word while commenting about how to hold tools or use them.Such as holding a hammer upside-down and saying, “TURN over” or using a key/wrench/screwdriver and

all week whenever you look at books together. If your

child is at the communication level to say the phrase back to you, try and hold the book so that

they need to tell you when to “turn” the page in order to

go to the next page.

Go outside and trace shadowswith chalk or make your own shadows: build a tower with blocks; use toys such as animals; or use your own body to create a shadow and trace it using available materials(chalk,markers,crayons,pencils)

 Activity: Fruit Kabobs

You can choose fresh fruits of your child’s choice or new fruit you would like them to try (e.g. banana, berries, mango, kiwi, oranges, melons, etc.). Slice them for your child into preferable sizes. Give your child popsicle sticks/toothpicks and show them to press fruit onto the stick. You can make a sequence and have them copy you. Encourage using both hands throughout the activity (one hand on stick and other hand pressing fruit on stick). Let them enjoy delicious snack fresh or frozen.

Activity:  Manipulating Oobleck (Warning: It’s Messy!)

Make Oobleck:-½ cup water/ or liquid dish soap for a stretchy effect (not both)-1 cup corn starch-Food coloring (optional)

Pour and mix ingredients onto a tray or large container and manipulate the Oobleck!Scoop and pour Oobleck with spoons or small containers, squeeze it with your hands/fingers, mold it into little balls, hide small washable items in it and retrieve them with tongs.

Expanding activity: Make the Oobleck using primary colors (red, yellow, or blue) and mix two primary colors to make secondary colors and talk about color mixing; turn the activity into a science experiment and talk about its texture/ is it solid or liquid

Pre-Writing/Fine Motor     Activity: Egg Carton Lacing

You will need egg carton, paint/crayon/marker, string (lace, rope, ribbon, pipe cleaner)

Start by cutting off the lid and closure piece. Cut out the individual egg holders and trim any uneven pieces as needed. Let your child decorate individual egg holders with paint, crayon or marker. Let it dry and poke holes either in the center or on the sides. Let your child practice stringing individual egg holders using both hands.

Activity: Paper Collage

Tear with your fingers or cut with scissors pieces of colorful paper (construction, magazine, tissue paper) and create a collage of your choice. Allow your child to use their imagination to make their own picture or provide an outline/stencil to fill in.

P.S. You could create your collage on your shape shadows from Monday if they were done on paper.

Encourage your child build a house with any material that will hold a special toy. Ask your child questions about

their plans.

Gather materials such as string, strips of paper, socks which vary in length. Put them in a box and pull them out one by one talking with your child about how they are the same and how they are different. Line up the objects and ask which piece is longer, shorter and the same.

Use the words longer and shorter during the day to compare objects around the house.

How Many Steps to Bed?

This is a fun way to help transition your child to bed. Ask your child how many steps they think it will take them to get to bed. Try taking baby steps one night and gigantic steps the next.

Shadow Shapes

Create shadows either outside or inside with a flashlight. Ask your child questions about their shadow such as:How do you make your shadow go away?How are shadows made?Draw a shape and ask your child to try to make a shadow the same shape with their hands or bodies. Join them in the fun.

Drop pennies, one at a time into a jar or can. Without looking, have your child guess how many pennies they heard drop.

Actividad:Limpia y seca tu envase. Diviértete dibujando o haciendo una cara de cocodrilo en la parte superior.

 Esta semana la palabra CORE es "turn"Haga que su hijo elija un libro favorito y tómese unos minutos para mirarlo juntos.Después de leer o hablar sobre cada imagen, modele la frase "Dé vuelta la página (turn the page)" mientras da vuelta la página.Continúen modelando esto durante toda la semana cuando vean libros juntos. Si su hijo está en el nivel de comunicación para decirle la frase, intente sostener el

libro para que tenga que decirle cuándo "pasar" la página para pasar a la siguiente.

Actividad: Trazando Sombras

Ve afuera y traza sombras con una tiza o has tus propias sombras: construye una torre con bloques; usa juguetes como animales, o utiliza tu propio cuerpo para crear una sombra y trázalo usando materiales disponibles (jis, marcadores, crayolas,lápices)

 

Actividad: Brochetas de Frutas

Puede elegir frutas frescas del agrado de su hijo/a o frutas nuevas que le gustaría que prueben (por ejemplo, plátano, bayas, mango, kiwi, naranjas, melones, etc.). Córtelos para su hijo/a en tamaños preferibles. Dele a su hijo/a palitos de helado /palillos de dientes y muéstreles que inserte el palillo a la fruta. Pueden hacer una secuencia y hacer que le copien. Anime a su hijo/a a usar ambas manos durante la actividad (una mano en el palillo y otra mano presionando la fruta en el palillo). Permítales disfrutar de un delicioso helado de brochetas de frutas.

 Actividad: Manipulando Oobleck (Advertencia es algo desordenado!)

Hacer Oobleck:½ taza de agua/ o jabón para lavar trastes para que se extienda (no los dos)

Vasea y mezcla los ingredientes en un envase grande y manipula el Oobleck!

Agarra y sirve Oobleck con cucharas y envases pequenos, apachúrralos con tus manos con tus manos/dedos, fórmalos en pequeñas bolas, esconde pequeños objetos adentro que sean fácil de lavar y intenta sacarlos con las tenazas.

Expander la actividad: Has al Oobleck utilizando colores primarios (rojo, amarillo, o azul) y mezcla dos colores y habla sobre la mezcla de los colores, convierte la actividad en un experimento de ciencia y platica sobre su textura/ si es un solido o liquido

 Actividad: Cordón de cartón de huevos

Necesitará cartón de huevos, pintura / crayón / marcador, cuerda (encaje, cuerda, cinta, limpiapipas)

Comience cortando la tapa y la pieza de cierre del carton de huevos. Recorte los porta-huevos individualmente y recorte las piezas irregulares según sea necesario. Deje que su hijo/a decore los porta-huevos individuales con pintura, crayón o marcador. Déjelo secar y haga agujeros en el centro o en los lados. Deje que su hijo practique ensartar sostenedores de huevos individuales con ambas manos.

Actividad: Fotomontaje de papel

Rompe con tus dedos o corta con las tijeras pedacitos de papel de colores(papel de construcción, revista, papel tisular) y crea un fotomontaje a tu gusto. Permite que tu niño(a) utilize su imaginación para que construya su propio dibujo o proporciona un esquema /plantilla para trazar.

Nota: Tu puedes crear tu fotomontaje con las sombras de tus figuras que hiciste el Lunes si los hiciste en papel.

Motive a su hijo/a a construir una casa con cualquier material que pueda para almacenar el juguete preferido se su hijo/a. Hágale preguntas a su hijo sobre sus planes.

Esta es una forma divertida de ayudar a su hijo/a a irse su cama. Pregúntele a su hijo cuántos pasos cree que les llevará llegar a la cama. Intenta dar pequeños pasos una noche y pasos gigantes al la siguiente.

Tire los centavos, uno por uno en un frasco o lata. Sin mirar, haga que su hijo/aadivine cuántos centavos escuchó caer.

Reúna materiales como cuerdas, tiras de papel, calcetines que varían en longitud (largo). Póngalos en una caja y sáquelos uno por uno hablando con su hijo/a acerca que sin son iguales y cómo son diferentes. Alinee los objetos y pregunte qué pieza es más larga, más corta y la misma.

Use las palabras “Más y Cortas” durante el día para comparar objetos alrededor de la casa. 

  Crea sombras afuera o adentro con una linterna. Hágale preguntas a su hijo/a sobre su sombra, tales como:

¿Cómo haces que tu sombra se vaya?

¿Cómo se hacen las sombras?

Dibuje una forma y pídale a su hijo/a que intente hacer una sombra de la misma forma con sus manos o cuerpos. Únete a ellos en la diversión.
