DesignWorks 2012

The College of Architecture and Planning’s DesignWorks is open to high school students of all backgrounds and professional interests. Applicants must have completed their sophomore or junior year of high school and in general must be ranked in the top 20 percent of their high school class and have a grade point average of 3.0 (B) or better on a 4.0 scale.

Fascination with architecture and environmental design can start at a very young age—even in grade school, as any kid who likes 3-D puzzles, building toys, or working in the garden will tell you. But where can a student approaching college age have an opportunity to really explore the fields and see how they feel as career possibilities?

The 2015 application is available Apply today. . You will also need to

Each summer talented and motivated high school students who have completed the Eleventh grade and have compiled outstanding academic records immerse themselves in a campus environment that encourages academic exploration, fosters personal growth, and develops strategies for dealing with the more intense demands of college. As a Boston College Experience student, you will test yourself by taking college-level courses with undergraduate students as you explore subjects not available at your high school.

Boston University Pre-College

During this six-week summer high school honors program, students are enrolled in two summer academic courses of their choice, studying alongside Boston University undergraduates and earning up to eight college credits. The High School Honors Program offers more than 100 undergraduate courses in a range of exciting subjects not typically available in high school classrooms—such as medical anthropology, Buddhism, and economics. Students receive guidance in identifying subject areas and courses that are appropriately challenging and applicable to future college work. Financial aid is available for students who demonstrate need.

Summer Challenge Program: two-week preview of college life and coursework in a non-credit setting. There is no application deadline; however, students are encouraged to apply early to ensure receiving the session and course selection of their choice. Admissions are made on a rolling basis, and only completed applications are reviewed.

For students entering their freshman or sophomore year of high school, the one-week, non-credit, Summer Preview Program offers a choice of two seminars, providing an opportunity to explore an academic interest in depth or investigate a new topic. There is no application deadline. However, students are encouraged to apply early to ensure receiving the course selection of their choice. Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis, and only completed applications are reviewed.

The high school summer Research Internship in Science & Engineering Program (RISE) provides an opportunity for academically motivated rising seniors to conduct university-level research in state-of-the-art laboratories, alongside some of the sharpest scientific minds in the country. This competitive, six-week honors program provides full immersion in the laboratory environment. Under the guidance of a Boston University research mentor, high school summer research internship students work on a new or ongoing research project for forty hours a week. The application deadline for the completed application including financial aid materials for the Research Internship in Science and Engineering Program is March 31, 2014.

Williwaw Adventures has been conducting adventure tours in North America since 1999. Our expeditions take us to Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Oregon, Idaho, Washington and California.
