The context of this verse is, King Jehoshaphat was living in trying and difficult days. Jehoshaphat was king of Judah, facing countless hosle neighbors who were ready to go to war. Jehoshaphat felt powerless against the overwhelming odds, but his prayer in 2 Chronicles 20:12 can inspire and challenge us: O our God, will you not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on you.We will keep our eyes on the Lord as we go through difficult days. In the wake of the Coronavirus, pray boldly for a cure. Pray for healthcare workers, for our leaders, for the church as we reopen to in-person worship, for beer days, and for racial jusce in our land! People are raw and looking for answers. My hope and prayer is that we will turn our eyes to the Lord like King Jehoshaphat, to find the compassion, wisdom, and vision we need to move forward. Im grateful that Stephan and I have the privilege to serve this amazing church--First Ozark UMC! Im thankful for how this church family is connuing to do ministry and missions such as: providing food for Mary Hill Family Service Center, supporng Mission Point, helping people in need, making masks, leading virtual Vacaon Bible School, and giving extravagantly, financially, to the work of the church! During these trying days, let us connue to guard our hearts and remain whole and give God the glory! As we connually and prayerfully keep our eyes on the Lord and our church family, let us set an example and be a leader for other churches in our annual conference and beyond. Keeping my eyes on the Lord along with you, Jason

Word from The Pastor During the difficult days that we are struggling with today, I believe 2 Chronicles 20:12 could prove extremely helpful. The context of this verse is, King Jehoshaphat was living in trying and difficult days. Jehoshaphat was king of Judah, facing countless hostile neighbors who were ready to go to war. Prayer Concerns

Reopening Plan and Strategy 1. Sunday School Classes (adult, youth, children,) began June 21. The Billy Gaither Special Needs Class will not resume their meetings until July. All other services (youth, children’s, and evening worship service) will resume when local schools open. 2. Members of the congregation must wear masks. Gloves are optional and we will have designated seating. The NOW@9 contemporary service will be broadcast on Facebook Live. The 11:00 a.m. service will be broadcast via radio on 104.9 FM. 3. If you are feeling ill or concerned, please consider delaying return to in-person worship. 4. Ushers will take forehead temperature when members enter the church. Any individual who enters the building must show no signs of sickness--per AWFC Guidelines. 5. Please remember, we all need to be flexible and comply with Alabama, Ozark, and Alabama -West Florida Conference guidelines. 8:30 a.m. --Traditional Service (Sanctuary): Every other pew will be open; normal usher locations remain: one at main entrance, ramp entrance, and bottom floor door near elevator. NOW@9 Contemporary Service (FLC): Chairs will be six feet apart. Families may sit together. Two greeters will be present at entrances. The service will also be broadcast on Facebook Live. 11:00 a.m. Traditional Service (Sanctuary): Every other pew will be open (opposite those used in 8:30 a.m. service); ushers will be in normal locations (two at main entrance, one at ramp entrance, and one at the bottom floor door near elevator), and the service will be broadcast on 104.9 FM. Sunday School Classes (10:00-10:45)--Beginning June 21. New meeting locations are: Seekers (Family Life Center), John Wesley (Room 228), Abundant Life (Conference Room 231), Covenant (Chapel), Kells Carroll (Fellowship Hall), and Journey Class (Third floor Sunday School classroom) Board, committee, and council meetings will resume on July 6. For more information on where each respective meeting will take place, please visit firstozark.org, and click the link on the home page regarding the plan for resuming board, committee, and council meetings. Pastors will give guidance at the beginning and end of each service concerning guidelines for in-person worship as well as procedures for where and when to place offering donations and envelopes. Bulletins will be placed in pews prior to service. NOW@9 will use the projector screen to show the Order of Worship.

First Kids Virtual Scavenger Hunt The virtual scavenger hunt will take place on Sunday, June 28. This event will be very similar to the virtual Easter egg hunt held in April and the Jurassic Park hunt held in May.

Church Directory Great news! Content for the church directory has been mailed to the design and printing company. It was sent on Wednesday, June 17. It will take them 15 business days upon reception of the materials for them to produce a proof book. We can expect to receive the proof near the end of June/early July. Once they send us the proof book and we give confirmation, they will begin printing our books and send them back within two weeks.

End-of-Week Facebook Live Please continue watching our weekly “Fridays at 11.” Hear from our pastors and leadership within the church regarding important information about our church. We have a moment of prayer as well as a song. If you are unable to watch at 11:00, no worries! You can go back to our Facebook page and watch any time.

Soundboard Operation and Hearing Assistance If you are interested in learning how to run the soundboard for the 8:30 a.m. traditional service, please contact the church office, and we will get you in contact with our Technical Director, Jim Boynton. We would like to also remind you that hearing assistance devices are available for use in the Sanctuary if desired. The headsets are available in the vestibule area.

Church Scholarship Application Church scholarship application packets are ready to be picked up in the church office. For a digital copy of the application, you can send an email to [email protected] and an electronic copy will be sent. If you are a graduating senior, current college or transfer student, or graduate student, you may pick up an application. Applications are available until July 13.
