Post Graduate Diploma in Emergency Medical Services (PGDEMS)

Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services (MEMS) project

Objective, Market Need & Career Potential:

It is time one appreciates the absolute necessity of setting up and reorganizing the emergency medical services in our country. In line with the prevalent medico social scenario, the existing administrative and legal set up, a well structured, supervised training programme, in confirmation to international norms and standards is the felt need of the hour. The Post Graduate Diploma in Emergency Medical Services (PGDEMS) is the first such course in the country which will train medical professionals in the basics of emergency medical services (EMS) in line with the norms and standards of the Los Angeles Paramedical Institute, USA.

Timely provision of medical aid by such adequately trained and qualified personnel, even before the patient reaches the safety of the hospital can spell the difference between life and death on numerous occasion!

Such trained personnel will also be of help in causalities and ICUs of hospitals, apart from being sent with the ambulance to the site where Emergency Medical Services are required for providing in transit life support.

The SIHS thus aims yet again, to be the pioneer in this field and raise a team of professionals who are formally trained and adept at handling all such emergencies and optimizing pre-hospital care.
