Directions
1. Use this “Passport” to indicate your options for the next school year. Print out and bring this Passport to
each class. Don’t lose it! The Counseling Office will have extra copies available.
2. Teachers will help you select the courses that are appropriate for you. Don’t be afraid to select rigorous
courses! Colleges love students who are ready for a challenge. This shows your ability to handle rigorous
curriculum and taking risks that will pay off in the end.
3. In the first column, mark an ‘1’ for your first preference and a ‘2’ for your second preference for each
subject, and so on.. Your teachers will explain your options for next school year.. In the second column of
bolded classes, have a teacher from that department initial that you’ve discussed your placement in the class
with them. Classes shaded in gray are for Diploma Bound/Diploma students only.
4. Complete the questionnaire on the back of the booklet. Hold on to your Passports! Counselors will meet
with you to make sure you are in the classes that you need. You will receive an email via CPS email for the
dates you should come meet with your counselor.
Come during your lunch period with your Passport!
5. You will choose a minimum of 2 alternate courses in case courses close or do not run. Carefully choose
your alternates in case they become courses on your schedule.
6. Please visit www.tafths.org for course sequences and course descriptions under the Academics tab, choose
Classes and Curriculum.
Principal’s Message
Dear Students:
I can’t believe it’s already halfway through the school year! It’s time to for you to work with your
counselor to choose your classes for next year. A little bit of advice as you make these important
decisions:
If you are getting an A or B in any class, think about taking the next level: Honors, AP, IB,
etc.
Ask questions and review the Course Description and Programming Handbook on our web-
site. There are many new course options too!
Discuss course choices with your parents.
Meet with your counselor during your programming time.
Stop by the Curriculum Showcase in the library from Tuesday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Jan.
19, 1st through 8th periods to see new courses and talk about classes.
There are many more course options for all students and with both AP/IB courses, you have the
potential to earn collect credit. Best of luck for the next school year. Go Eagles!
Mark Grishaber, Principal
