Integrated communications platforms allow users to

react and handle calls more efficiently. When a ra-

dio user has to handle telephone calls, this can be

difficult to achieve, especially when multiple lines

need to be monitored. A radio dispatcher is tradi-

tionally required to handle radio traffic, but this can

be complicated by having to answer the phones too.

Cyfas have considered how to improve the tradi-

tional radio dispatcher position, and are keen to sug-

gest a platform for radio dispatch and telephony.

First is to provide common headset working, which

means users can make & receive radio & telephone

calls using the same audio accessories. Second is to

provide a common control interface, where both ra-

dio & telephone call handling is achieved at a single

’Operator Position’.

One additional benefit is a clearer desk space,

achieved by providing each user a single terminal,

rather than multiple desk phones and radios.

CYFAS SOFTPHONE SOFTWARE ALLOWS

TELEPHONY TO BE ADDED TO ANY

C-SOFT RADIO DISPATCHER

In conjunction with an IP PBX and recorder, a

radio dispatch solution becomes an integrated

communications platform, allowing operations

staff access to both radio and telephony re-

sources. A built-in directory allows instant ac-

cess to all your favourite numbers, and can be

shared across the whole control room.

Dispatcher Systems

Shown above C-Soft Plus radio dispatcher

position with Telephony

Cyfas offer a complete radio and telephony solution, which provides multiple operator positions access

to radio and telephone lines. The system includes design software that allows screen configurations to

be tailored to specific requirements. Where offices already include SIP telephony, desk lines can be

directly connected to each operator, allowing full integration to existing telephone systems. In other

cases Cyfas use IP PBX technology to provide call routing between PSTN, PBX, and Cellular networks.

In this diagram, radio terminals are shown connected using Telex proprietary RoIP (Radio over IP)

devices. Telephone connections are made using SIP (Session Initiated Protocol) VoIP (Voice over IP).

When interfacing to analogue phone lines, Cyfas use ATAs (Analogue Telephone Adaptors) to convert

standard telephony to SIP VoIP. An IP PBX connects to the ATAs and distributes telephone exten-

sions to all operators in the system. This means all operators can see when an incoming call is made,

and all can answer the call. A GSM/GPRS adaptor provides access to Cellular networks for least cost

routing to field agents or fallback operation. A voice recorder can be added easily to the system, con-

nection is via IP. The unit allows recording of all lines. Recordings can be searched, reviewed, and

archived for future reference.

One to Many Operator Positions

The system uses standard IP communications to operator positions, allowing

many users to be connected over an existing network without traditional

specialist communications hardware. There are no licence limitations to the

number of operator positions within a system.

One to Many Telephone Lines

ATA devices are routed via a 3CX IP PBX to be presented at all operator posi-

tions. Because the PBX is PC-Based, additional lines do not require additional

hardware. SIP registrations can be made via the IP PBX or directly to individ-

ual operator consoles as required. Licensing is calculated by the number of

simultaneous calls. Licences are available for 4 to 1024 simultaneous calls in

convenient step sizes.

One to Many locations

Because the system uses IP connections, Operators and telephones can be

located at any point on a network.

Building Integration

The system is built on 3CX Windows PBX, which means the system can be

expanded to provide telephony to much more than just the radio dispatchers.

Using IP phones, telephony can be provided to many users, allowing your

organisation a modern, cost-effective telephony solution.
