Term 4 Week 6 Newsletter 34 17th November 2016 PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE The panel has completed its duties for the Expression of Interest for a Kindergarten teacher in 2017. Mrs Kim Gorton, currently a Kindergarten teacher at Bolwarra Public School, has accepted the position. Kindergarten orientation dates will be finalised after negotiation with Bolwarra Public School. School photographs will be taken on Wednesday 26 th April, 2017 (Week 1, Term 1). Many parents have been enquiring as to whether or not the new school polo shirt could be worn by students on school photo day. It would be great to see as many students as possible in the new polo shirt for the photos. The uniform committee is currently taking orders for the new uniform and as polo shirts have a minimum order of 100, may I recommend parents at least place an order for the new polo shirt so there is some consistency in uniform for the school photo. Thank you. Once again, the Home Reading Scheme has been an outstanding success. For those nearing the 200 nights, the closing date for the scheme will be Friday 2 nd December. Get a read on! P&C AGM The AGM of Hinton Public School P&C will be held on Thursday, 1 December 2016 at 3.15 in the Computer Room. All executive positions will become vacant, and nominations will be sought for the positions for 2017. (President, Vice President x 2, Secretary, Treasurer, Canteen Coordinator, Uniform Coordinator). Even if you don’t wish to take up a position, please come along and pay your $1 membership fee to be a fully paid voting member for the first meeting in 2017 (15th Feb).

PEER SUPPORT 2016

I would like to thank the Stage 3 students for their help in organising and delivering the whole

school Peer Support Program which has been taking place every Thursday afternoon for the last 3

weeks. Students across the school form small groups and are guided by the 5/6 students through a

variety of tasks. This year, our Peer Support program took place in both Terms 1 and 4 with

activities in Term 1 designed to allow students to get to know each other better and then activities

in term 4 designed to encourage students to look back on the learning muscles they have been

using throughout the year. Students created war cries, collaborated in colouring tasks and finally

exchanged written compliments. Well done 5/6 C for showing great leadership skills and supporting

your peers so well!

Mrs Teresa Clarkson
