When I was a boy, most people

didn’t go to other countries for their

holidays. Some rich people went

abroad, but most people stayed inBritain.

They didn’t travel by plane and a

lot of people didn’t have a car.

They travel by train or bus.

We only had one holiday a year. My parents worked

in a factory. In August, the factory always closed for

two weeks and all the workers took their holiday

then.

We always went to Brighton for our holidays. We

didn’t stay in a hotel. We stayed with my aunt anduncle. They lived near Brighton.

We didn’t have a lot of money, but we had a good

time. We played on the beach with our cousins and

swam in the sea. We didn’t have a lot of things, but

they were happy days.
