STATEMENT OF NEEDThis CME course endeavors to provide the pediatrician and family physician with the evidence-based medical knowledge to provide optimal care to the transgender and/or gender non-conforming pediatric or adolescent patient. It will cover various aspects of transgender sexual orientation including the PCP’s role, legal issues in transgender healthcare, hormone therapy, menstrual suppression, transgender accessories, the underserved transgender youth and surgical options during the transgender journey. Ample time for learner questions and interaction with faculty will be included in this course.

TARGET AUDIENCE This is a national program, designed for: • pediatricians• family physicians • primary care practitioners • nurses • nurse practitioners • allied health professionals

STATEMENT OF NEED The ever-increasing amount of new biomedical information requires pediatricians and family physicians to obtain comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge on a wide range of clinical issues encountered in daily pediatric practice. The 25th Annual Pediatric Update will highlight recent advances in pediatrics presented by a variety of clinical faculty covering such topics as: the future of pediatric medicine, promotion of bone health, vaccine update, chronic cough, autism, inattentive or delayed behavior, anxiety and depression, gynecological emergencies, daytime urinary incontinence, wheezing, rashes, ophthalmology and journal articles not to miss in 2017. This course is presented in a lecture format with ample time for questions from the learners.
