Project Context

SEDDS Project
• Environment and Sustainable Development Sectoral Strategies (SEDDS) project to mainstream climate change into sectoral policies
• Grant from Luxembourg Cooperation Agency (Lux Dev)
• Two Phases
• Phase 1: Launch, Strategy Development, and Planning (2017 – 2019)
• Phase 2: Strategy Implementation and Mainstreaming (2019 – 2022)
• Initially focused on health and vocational training sectors

Key Objectives
1. Establish a baseline understanding for the
level of climate change integration in
current national sectoral policies.
2. Define sector-specific priorities for climate
change and the environment
3. Develop and promote effective planning
tools for mainstreaming climate change in
sectoral ministries.

Phase 1 – Planning and Development
• Capacity building of environmental experts
• Define a Terms of Reference for elaboration
of SEDDS
• Establishing a roadmap and action plan for
sector-specific mainstreaming
• Institutionalization of ministerial focal points
• Adopt strategic plans

Health
• Develop a preventive approach based on the environmental determinants of health
• Improve the resilience of the system to climate change
• Support universal access to sustainable well-being
Vocational Training
• Training and craft production institutions adopt environmentally responsible practices
• Innovation and action research are used to promote equity and sustainability

• Align policy elements with existing stakeholder priorities
to secure operationalization
• Proactive planning for in-depth implementation
• Focus on enhancing inter-sectoral cooperation
