the new e-gnss paradigm "from technology to service provision"
DESCRIPTION
Presentation made by M. Musmeci, Head of Galileo Management Office of Telespazio, during the Session 9 “Linking space Technologies and User Communities – Challenges or Perfect Interaction?”, Munich Satellite Navigation Summit 2014.TRANSCRIPT
27th of March 2014 –
Session 9 “Linking space Technologies and User Communities – Challenges or Perfect Interaction?”
Which trends for the next years?
Next “FIVE on FIVE” (2011 IBM Study):
• Smaller and powerful batteries
• Environment monitoring by mobile devices
• Re-using energy from Data Centres for cities
• Customised travels and mobility
• 3D social interactions
The E-GNSS “Service oriented frame”
• E-GNSS service oriented facilities and centres:
• EGNOS Service Centre
• GNSS Security Monitoring Centre
• GNSS Service Centre
• Time and Geodesy Service providers
• Galileo Reference Centre
• Galileo Search and Rescue
All services are based on KPI’s and SLA
Operational since 2009!
EGNOS Service Centre: Supporting Users
http://egnos-user-support.essp-sas.eu/ • Past, current, forecasted performances
• SIS outage notifications
• Real-time service performances
• Technical assistance
Helpdesk • Primary interface for services and performances
• Single point of contact for EGNOS related requests
• First line support to EDAS users
EGNOS Service Centre: From Understanding Users to Fostering Adoption
User Satisfaction Survey
Service Development Analysis of regulatory framework
Implementation status
Barriers and enablers
=> Specific service provision framework
Service Adoption Definition of service adoption strategy
Communication, promotion
Adoption actions
For each sector
Integrate with existing
services
Differentiate and
characterise
Manage the transition
Complement global with
local
Differentiate and characterise the addressable market sectors offering the “customised” services
… between existing techno and business model to reach EGNOS/Galileo based services
Complement the development of Global services with Local services and technologies
e.g. EO and SATCOM satellite services, terrestrial positioning services, non-navigation services and technology
E-GNSS exploitation: Key Drivers
The new phase of E-GNSS is already started with a strong
service oriented approach: The users are at the centre of the
attention
The Service Oriented Frame is the real EGNOS/Galileo differentiator with respect to existing military
systems (GPS and GLONASS)
Private and public actors to contribute to the completion of the downstream
value chain with additional development, investments, ad-hoc
regulations and standards
Conclusions: Creating the “perfect interaction”
Final Objective :
Create innovative added value services based on EGNOS, Galileo and all the future signals from the “system of systems”
