C. -Miss Lois Bryant, a most winsome and charming little lady, of Camp Yonah, Ga., is on a visit to her uncle, J. A. Peek, in Pickens. -Bethlehem School will open next Monday, the 26th instant, with Miss Hattie Earle as teach- er. The patrons and pupils are urged to be on hand on opening day. -We have a communication from "J. P. S.," from Rock, which we cannot publish as the author is unknown to us. We will publish no communication unless the author gives us his na.ne as a guarantee of good faith. -Bailey C. Robinson, while driving a mule to the buggy Sun- day was considerably bruised up by the mule running away. The buggy run up on the, mule and frightened it, and Bailey jumped out, intending to catch the wheel and hold the buggy back. He was jerked to the ground and dragged some dis- tance, severely bruising him, but is able to be up and about again. -Mrs. Roxie Annie Bell, wife of R. E. L. Bell, died at her home in Walhalla last Wednes- day evening at about six o'clock, after a lingering illness of six years from consumption. She was taken seriously ill about thirteen days before her death. Mrs. Bell was a daughter of E. J. Nix, of Salem, her mother having died about ten years ago. Twentythree years ago she was married to R. E. L. Bell, who, with four children, two daugh ters and two sons, survives her. She was born in Pickens county on July 21st, 1870, being at the time of her death 39 years of age. Of her immediate family he] father and five brothers, Elisha, W. M., L. C., J. E., and J. I. Nix, and two sisters. Mrs. George Keith, of Pickens county, Mrs. M. B. Finley, of Salem, survive. She was a member of the Bap tist church, having joined the church twenty-nine years ago ir Augusta. Ga. There are nu merous relatives and friends throughout Oconee and Pickens counties who sympathize deepl> with the bereaved family in thei: hour of sorrow. Her friends hope she may soon be well and be with her Pickens friends again. -The Sentinel-Journal is al- ways glad to hear from an old friend. Mr. J. B. Taylor sends a kindly message from Vicks- burg, Miss., and says he longs to renew his acquaintance w-ith the surviving friends of his youth. His friends will be glad to know the world is us- ing him kindly and generously and they wvill be gladder still to have him attend the reunion soon to be held at Carmel and be rebaptized with the precious memories of childhood.
