The Pin Code Workbook

Your Pinterest Strategy

As I have taught you in The Pin Code, you need to plan your Pinterest strategy, starting with identifying a niche and sub-niches, then creating boards for those so you can pin to those boards.

It is a good idea at this stage to create your branding if you have not done so already, ensuring that your Pinterest account reflects any of your sites that you link to with the same colours, types of images etc

You also need to identify the right keywords for those boards and pins as well as your account so that people can find you and your Pins on Pinterest.

You then need to create your own Pins as well a repinning other pins, ensuring you keep a good proportion (aim for 20-30% of your Pins and the rest for repins.)

Moving on from this, you want to pin daily and consistently and you might want to consider automation such as Tailwind to help you do this although I have found that my best results come from manual pinning.

This workbook is designed to consolidate what you have learned so far and to take you forward into the next stages of your Pinterest success.

Please complete each section so that you can make sure you have laid the right foundations for your Pinterest strategy and to remind you to do so if you have not done this already!

Keep this workbook handy to keep your Pinterest account on track and so that you have a reminder of what you still need to do/keep doing to make Pinterest work for you.

Let’s start with the absolute basics: THE BASICS

Have you set up a Pinterest account?

Have you converted that to a business account?

Have you created your account description, uploaded a picture of you and filled out your account details? List what you have done and what you still need to do here.

Do you know what you most want to get out of Pinterest? E.g. more traffic, more sales, more affiliate sales or all of these and more? List it all here.

What is your main niche for Pinterest? If you have more than one, list the first here and then carry on in the next few pages. If you don’t yet have more than one, return to these pages later as you build out your Pinterest presence: What are your sub-niches? You should aim for at least 5-10 so that you can create sufficient boards:

What are your keywords for your main niche? List those here. You can use these keywords in your main description, your board descriptions (although check your sub-niche keywords too) and as hashtags. If you haven’t identified these yet, go back and watch the videos in The Pin Code and then go to Pinterest, enter your search terms and identify your keywords.

Do you already have branding for your own site(s) e.g. colours, logos, images etc? Describe it briefly here: If so, have you matched your corresponding Pinterest account(s) to that branding and how? If not, have you decided on an overall branding or look for your Pinterest account and boards? And if you have done that, describe it briefly here so you have a reminder:

How many boards have you created? List those here. Don’t worry if you only have a few or even none as yet – simply come back later and fill this in as you create boards:

How many sub-boards have you created from those boards? List those here and don’t worry if you have none as yet – this is all a Work In Progress!

List which of your own Pins are the most successful – look at your Pinterest Analytics stats to determine this here and don’t forget to date and update this:

For Pinterest success you want to pin consistently and preferably on a daily basis. Pinterest much prefers users who do this to those who pin a batch of Pins only once or twice a week.

Use the following calendar to keep track of your pinning habits for the next couple of weeks – make a note of your pins and repins e.g. pinned x 2, repinned x 15 at 9am, 2pm and 8pm:
