natural selves are ungodly. All those born of Adam are

by nature ungodly because we were born into Adamssin. Ungodly means that we are cutoff from God. The

natural man is cutoff from God.

Romans; Chapter 5; Verse 6-8: At just the Right

time when we were still powerless Christ died for the

ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteousman, though for a good man someone might possibly

dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us

in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Now that Us and Paul includes himself in it: We

were all ungodly. We were sinners. And he goes on totell us in verse 12.

Romans; Chapter 5; Verse 12-14: Therefore, just as

sin entered the world through one man, and death

through sin, and in this way death came to all men,

because all sinned - for before the law was given, sin

was in the world. But sin is not taken into account

when there is no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from

the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over

those who did not sin by breaking a command,

You see even those who didnt sin by breaking a

command, so it wasnt just those that did an act ofsinfulness. This shows us that our sinfulness wasnt

just about an act, but its about a corrupt nature. A

corrupt nature that produce sinful acts. Judge by the

law we are still considered sinners.

Romans; Chapter 5; Verse 16: Again, the gift of

God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The

judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation,

but the gift followed many trespasses and brought

justification.

Jesus death brings us justification.

Romans; Chapter 5; Verse 17-18: For if, by the

trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one

man, how much more will those who receive God'sabundant provision of grace and of the gift of

righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus

Christ. Consequently, just as the result of one trespass

was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one

act of righteousness was justification that brings life

for all men.

Now I want you to remember that Brings Life.

See this is the essence of being born again, Bringing to

us the life of Christ in place of the life of Adam. Thats

born again!

Romans; Chapter 5; Verse 19: For just as through

the disobedience of the one man the many were madesinners,

So just as one act of sin brought us death and this is

why men die so one act of righteousness brings us life

though Jesus.

Romans; Chapter 5; Verse 19: so also through the

obedience of the one man the many will be made

righteous.

And will be made. You cant make yourself

righteous, you were powerless. Remember what itsaid? God has to make you righteous. Well this is the

essence of what were going to get at, at what born

again means. To be made righteous, to bring us power.

To be made righteous when were sinners. To bring us

power when were powerless.

In this before we go into John Chapter 3, I want to

go into John chapter 1. Because it equates this

righteousness and this power with Christ. Where we

were sinners and powerless and condemned.

It tell us in the beginning was the word.

John; Chapter 1; Verse 1-4: In the beginning was

the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word

was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through

him all things were made; without him nothing wasmade that has been made. In him was life,

Not Adam.

John; Chapter 1; Verse 4-5: and that life was the

light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but thedarkness has not understood it.

He goes on to tell us in verse 10.

John; Chapter 1; Verse 10-12: He was in the world,

and though the world was made through him, theworld did not recognize him. He came to that which

was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to

all who received him, to those who believed in his

name, he gave the right to become children of God -

He gives you that power. You dont have that of

yourself.

John; Chapter 1; Verse 13: children born not of

natural descent,

In other word of flush, of Adam.

John; Chapter 1; Verse 13: nor of human decision

No man decided you were going to be born. Youre

born of God.

John; Chapter 1; Verse 13: or a husband's will, but

born of God.

No bodys husband decided you were going to be

born of the spirit, but you born of God. Youre born ofGod! And what we are going to talk about here this

new birth. So he is telling Nicodemus about this.

I want you to remember these things. These

important bottom line understanding.

1) You are a sinner.2) You were powerless.3) In Jesus was the life, and in you was not.4) You were condemned in Adam.5) All born in Adam were born into sin. We

have just read that!

6) Yet to all those that received him, Jesus,to those that believe in name he gave the power

to become the children of God.

7) In Christ we receive power, and in Christwe receive righteousness, and in Christ we

receive a new life.

Born of God and not of men! Before where you had

been born of Adam, now you must be born of Christ.

With that basically in place we can go read what hesaid to Nicodemus.

John; Chapter 3; Verse 1-2: Now there was a man

of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the

Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and

said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has comefrom God. For no one could perform the miraculous

signs you are doing if God were not with him."

Now I want you to see this Nicodemus. Lets

explain a little bit. Nicodemus was a Pharisees. He was

a member of the Jewish ruling cancel. He is a memberof what they call the Sanhedrin. He came to Jesus at

night. Now why did he come to Jesus at night?

Because the Pharisees didnt like Jesus! To them Jesus

was this revolutionary, somebody who is on the

outside of them going around and stirring up the

people ageist them. Thats the way they viewed Jesus.

But Nicodemus was genuinely curious about him. So

he came by night so none of the other Pharisees would

see him with Jesus. That was important! Where ever

Jesus was and the Pharisees showed up he would

speak to them only in parables. He would not speak to

them plainly. It could be that Nicodemus thought that

getting him alone, coming alone to him, maybe Jesuswould speak to him plainly. So you see how he

approached Jesus. He said we know Rabbi, teacher, he

gave him respect.

John; Chapter 3; Verse 2: we know you are a

teacher who has come from God. For no one could

perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God

were not with him."

Now notes the way he come to Jesus. When he says

we know, what we is he speaking of. Hes not

speaking of the other Pharisees. He came by night; he

didnt want to be seen by the other Pharisees. And the

Pharisees knew nothing of the kind. As a matter of fact

you see when they convicted Jesus the only ones thatspook up for him was Joseph of Arimathea and

Nicodemus the only ones of the whole cancel. And

even then Nicodemus did it in an offhanded way. He

didnt actually stick up for he, he just question why

they are doing this to him. No! When he was saying

we know that you come from God he wasnt speaking

of the other Pharisees. He was speaking of the only

two people that where there. Him and Jesus! Jesus, we

know, you and me know youre came from God. You

see the attitude. Jesus we know youre come from

God. Cause no one could do these signs your doing

unless God was with him, and what hes expecting is

Jesus to slap him on the back and say well youre agood teacher too Nicodemus. But thats not what he

got! Now I want you to see what Jesus says next is a

direct answer to what Nicodemus has just said.

John; Chapter 3; Verse 2-3: He came to Jesus at

night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who

has come from God. For no one could perform the

miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with

him." In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, noone can see the kingdom of God unless he is born

again."

Now whats he telling Nicodemus. Nicodemus is

saying we know you come from God. I know Jesus

you come from God. Whats Jesus telling him? No youdont Nicodemus! You have to be born again to know

that. No you dont, you have to be born again to know

that. Listen to what he said.

John; Chapter 3; Verse 3: "I tell you the truth, no

one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born

again."

Nicodemus said I know you came from God

because of these miracles, and Jesus saying no you

dont, no one can see the kingdom of God unless hes

born again. This catches Nicodemus off balance.

John; Chapter 3; Verse 4: "How can a man be born

when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannotenter

Now listen to what he says very carefully.

John; "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his

mother's womb to be born!"

Jesus is talking to him about being born according

to the spirit, and Nicodemus is thinking physical. He

doesnt know about spiritual birth. Hes thinking about

another physical birth into his mothers womb.

John; Chapter 3; Verse 5-7: Jesus answered, "I tell

you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God

unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives

birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You

should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be

born again.'

Now whats he telling hem here, whats Jesus

telling him?

Nicodemus says can a man go into his mother

womb a second time and be born. Jesus said no, unless

a man is born of water and the spirit. In other words,not water only. Born of water is exactly what

Nicodemus was referring to. In your mothers water

sack, in her womb. That what born of water means, a

physical birth! But Jesus saying, no, its not anotherphysical birth Nicodemus. Its a physical birth and a

spiritual birth. First youre born physical and then

youre born spiritually. That witch is born of flush is

flush, but that witch is born of spirit is spirit. You must

be born again.

John; Chapter 3; Verse 5: "I tell you the truth, no

one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of

water and the Spirit.

A lot of people are going to try to tell you that this

born of water is baptism. Its not! This born of water isyour first birth. You cant just be born physical twice

is what Jesus is saying. You have to be born physical

once and spiritual once. So in going on here!

Nicodemus says how this be? Now listen to what Jesus

says!

John; Chapter 3; Verse 7: You should not be

surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.'

Now listen to what he says real closely and you

going to see something wonderful here.

John; Chapter 3; Verse 8: The wind blowswherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you

cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.

So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

Now what did he just tell Nicodemus. Hes

answering his question still. Nicodemus says we know

you come from God because no one could do these

signs your doing, and he says no you dont Nicodemus

you have to be born again to know that and that theway with everyone that born of the spirit.

John; Chapter 3; Verse 8: The wind blows

wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you


So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

You cant look of the spirit and tell where they

came from or where there going. Now this is an

interesting point. We are going to read John chapter 6

and Jesus say this same thing.

In John chapter 6 after he feed the five thousand

with the five loves of barley and two fish. He tells

them;

John; Chapter 6; Verse 27: Labour not for the meat

which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto

everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give untoyou: for him hath God the Father sealed.

And then he starts to compare himself to the manna

that came from heaven. He said that your fathers ate ofmanna in the wilderness and they died, but Im the true

bread of heaven, eat of me and youll never die. And

they didnt get it!

John; Chapter 6; Verse 35-38: Then Jesus declared,

"I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will nevergo hungry, and he who believes in me will never be

thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still

you do not believe. All that the Father gives me will

come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never

drive away. For I have come down from heaven

O wait I thought Jesus was the man from Nazareth!

Wait hold on!

John; Chapter 6; Verse 38-40: For I have come

down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will

of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who

sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given

me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's

will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes

in him shall have eternal life,

Theres that new life, theres that new power we

were talking about!

John; Chapter 6; Verse 40-42: and I will raise him

up at the last day." At this the Jews began to grumbleabout him because he said, "I am the bread that came

down from heaven." They said, "Is this not Jesus, the

son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know?

How can he now say, "I came down from heaven'?"

You see it, isnt that what he just told Nicodemus?




See they thought they knew who Jesus was! This isthe son of Joseph, the son of Mary, the carpenters son.

What does he mean he comes from heaven? In a later

chapter, in chapter 8 youll see that he says where Im

going you cant follow. They say what does he mean

we dont know where he comes from? What does he

mean where hes going we cant follow? What is he

going to kill himself? They didnt get it! Cause they

didnt know him! They only seen him as the man from

Nazareth! They only seen him as a man! What is

Nicodemus seeing here? Born physical twice! He only

seeing man, hes not seeing spirit! Hes only seeing

physical, hes not seeing spiritual. They thought Jesus

was the guy from Nazareth, but Jesus isnt the guyfrom Nazareth hes the guy from heaven! And this is

what hes telling Nicodemus! No you dont know

where I come from! You cant know! You dont know

Im from God. You have to be born again to knowthat! Because those who are born again, listen to what

he says!




Just like the Pharisees couldnt tell where Jesus

come from! Just like Nicodemus couldnt tell where

Jesus come from! And so it is with you! Who is no

longer born of the flush of the will of a husband, or a

will of man, but born of God! So it is with everyoneborn of the spirit. The wind blows wherever it pleases.

You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes

from or where it is going. And that Jesus is! Where I

come from you dont know, and where Im going you

cant follow. Where he came from was from heaven,

and where he went back to was with his father, with

God.

John; Chapter 3; Verse 8-11: The wind blows



"How can this be?" Nicodemus asked. "You are

Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and do you notunderstand these things? I tell you the truth, we speak

of what we know,

Now Jesus has a wee of his own! Remember howNicodemus before said Jesus we know you come from

God! We know, level with me Jesus, we know you

come from God. Cause no one could be doing these

signs your doing unless God was with him! Now Jesus

uses a we! But hes not speaking of him and

Nicodemus. He saying we, speaking of him and thefather, cause they speak as one.

John; Chapter 3; Verse 11-14: we speak of what we

know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still

you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken

to you of earthly things and you do not believe; howthen will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No

one has ever gone into heaven except the one who

came from heaven - the Son of Man. Just as Moses

lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man

must be lifted up,

Lets deal with the first part first! No one has ever

gone into heaven except the one who came from

heaven. Jesus isnt the man from Nazareth as they

supposed. Hes not just the son of Mary and Joseph the

carpenter. Hes the man from heaven, sent from God.

He was with God in the beginning. It tells us in

Philippians 2 that he humbled himself. And we shouldtake the attitude of Christ who humbled himself. Who

being in very nature God. Humbled himself to take on

himself to take on the form as a servant. He didnt

consider equality with God something to grasp. Buthumbled himself before his father! Took on the form

of a servant and came down here. And this is why

Jesus tell the father when he prays in John chapter 17

glorify me now father with the glory I had with you in

the beginning. Jesus is by very nature God! Hes God

reveled in the flush! Hes not the man from Nazareth,hes the man from heaven, and now youre born of

him! Born of God! Can you see it?

Thats the promises of our born again! Thats the

promises of our inheritance. That we would be sons of

God! The born again isnt just what we have nowthough faith though Jesus death and resurrection. The

born again is not just what we have now though faith.

It is the resurrection of the dead. It is this adoption of

sons. Now we are going to have to deal with the fact.

That in order this experience of being born again! In

order to bring this new life! This heavenly life! Jesus

had to die in our place to pay the law! And this is what

were getting to next in here John chapter 3.

John; Chapter 3; Verse 13-14: No one has ever

gone into heaven except the one who came from

heaventhe Son of Man. Just as Moses lifted up the

snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be liftedup,

And this is what hes speaking of! A long ago

while they were in the wilderness the people disobeyedGod, and God sent snakes, fiery serpents to bit them,

so that many of them died it says. And as this plague

was upon Israel and many was dyeing from the fiery

serpents. Moses prayed to God, and God told him for

the people. Make a copy of those serpents, a brazing

serpent and set it up on a pole. And take that pole andset it up, and everyone that looks upon that brazing

serpent on the pole will live. And that what happen!

That plague was stayed! So that the fiery serpents quit

biting them and the people quit dyeing! Well those

fiery serpents Jesus is telling you here are a figure for

sin, and Jesus became in the likeness of sinful flush.He looked like a sinner! Get it! He became a curse for

us! He is that brazing serpent put on the pole! Get it!

He became a curse for us! Lifted up and all how look

to him will live! Well Jesus was lifted op on the cross.

Jesus was lifted op on the cross and all that look at that

sacrifice will live. Will find eternal life! And this is

what he tilling him. As Moses lifted up the serpent in

the wilderness!

John; Chapter 3; Verse 14-15: so the Son of Man

must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him

may have eternal life.

As those people were literally healed, Jesus brings

us eternal healing, the resurrection of the dead! See

eternal life is what were concentrating on! This is

what the new birth is about; now dont let anyonemislead you! Because its about eternal life! Its not

just to be born again now of the spirit, but your body

redeemed as well! The salvation of your soul! This is

what youre in this for! I wan to take you to Romans

chapter 8, and were going to talk about this a little

more! So you can see that our adaption as sons is not just the born again experience, but the fullness of

being born again is the resurrection of the dead,

because its that we may have eternal life! Not just life

here, but eternal life!

In Romans chapter 8 were told this;

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 12-15: Therefore,

brothers, we have an obligationbut it is not to the

sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live

according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by

the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body,

you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit

of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a

spirit

And that what you have now! The Holy Spirit is

come into you to quicken you! Right!

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 15: For you did not

receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear,

but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we

cry, "Abba, Father."

Now thats the way it is now! Right! Thats the

spirit of adoption, as it says in Galatians chapter 4, the

spiritual sonship where by we cry Abba father!

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 16-17: The Spirithimself testifies with our spirit that we are God's

children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs -

heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ,

Let me ask you! Does an heir have it now? Or are

they standing in promise for it? Does a heir have theirinheritance now? Or are they standing in promise for

it? Its promise to them that they will receive it! Right!

But they dont have it right now! So an heir is standing

in waiting in promise!

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 17: The Spirit himself

testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.

Now if we are children, then we are heirs - heirs of

God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his

sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

If you share in his sufferings! You see that!

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 18: I consider that our

present sufferings

Because were presently just heirs! Right!

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 18: I consider that our

present sufferings are not worth comparing with the

glory that will be revealed in us.

That the born again glory! When will that glory bereveled in us? The resurrection of the dead!

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 18-19: I consider that

our present sufferings are not worth comparing with

the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits

in eager expectation for the sons of God to berevealed.

Now this is what you got to see! This world is like

a womb! As a baby is being formed in darkness its

not fully a child until its born! Is it! Its the promise of

a child when its in the womb! When it breaks the

matrix of the womb and comes out fully formed! Then

its a child! Full! Right! But until it actually comes out

its the promise of a child that will be! Isnt it! Well all

of creation is this womb, and we are the children of

God in that womb! And when will we be reveled! The

creation waits in eager expectation just like a mother!

Just like a mother this world, the physical waits ineager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 20: For the creation was

subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but bythe will of the one who subjected it, in hope

Can you see that that is just like a pregnant woman?

It wasnt the womans choice to be pregnant! She was

subjected by her husband. Right! To that frustration of

being pregnant! In the hope! In the same way thisworld was subjected to frustration!

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 20-21: not by its own

choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in

hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its

bondage to decay

That the resurrection? Isnt it!

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 21: and brought into the

glorious freedom of the children of God.

So we know, and heres the repartition of that

figure!

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 22: We know that the

whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of

child birth right up to the present time!

See the world is groaning in those pains of child

birth; for what? The reviling of the sons of God though

the resurrection of the dead! This world is pregnant

with the sons of God! Now you going to have start tosee this, this is what the birth pains are about! For the

children of God to be born and the great travail, the

labor when it finely arrives when the birth pains have

gotten so close together, that is the great tribulation

that comes upon the whole earth! And its for the

reveling of the children of God!

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 23: Not only so, but we

ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan

inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons,

See we have it now by faith! But were still waitingfor it! We grown inwardly in the spirit as we wait for

our adoption as sons!

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 23-25: the redemption of

our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope

that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he

already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet

have, we wait for it patiently.

Can you see thats our born again! The resurrection

of the dead! The adoption of sons is the resurrection of

the dead, is the redemption of our bodies! So this is

born again! This is what Jesus is telling Nicodemus!Isnt it! You must be born again!

Just as you spent time in your mothers womb to be

born physical, and Nicodemus acknowledged that!Your not going back into your mothers womb! Youre

coming out of this one into the light of the spirit

though the resurrection of the dead! You see how that

all fits together? Unless youre born of water and the

spirit, you got to come out of two wombs. You got to

come out of your mother and out of the womb of thisearth into the resurrection. Out of the womb of this

flush into the resurrection! Thats born again! Not just

your spirit but you body!

Now in 1st

Peter chapter 1, starting in verse 3.

1st

Peter; Chapter 1; Verse 3: Praise be to the God

and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy

he has given us new birth into a living hope through

the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

So youre given birth into a living hope, but

remember what Romans chapter 8 said about hope!

Romans; Chapter 8; Verse 24: hope that is seen is

no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has?

Now compare those two things! You were given

new birth into a living hope! The hope is theresurrection of the dead! As it says in Romans chapter

8: the adoption of sons is the redemption of the body!

1st Peter; Chapter 1; Verse 4-5: new hope birthed

into a living hope comes though his resurrection ofJesus from the dead, and into an inheritance that can

never perish, spoil or fade - kept in heaven for you,

who through faith are shielded by God's power until:

Until what?

1st Peter; Chapter 1; Verse 5: until the coming of

the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last

time.

But wait I thought we were already saved! No!

Were saved by faith! Were waiting for the coming ofthe salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last

time. That is the resurrection!

1st Peter; Chapter 1; Verse 6-7: In this you greatly

rejoice, though now for a little while you may have

had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have

come so that your faith - of greater worth than gold,

which perishes even though refined by fire - may be

proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and

honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Thats at his second coming! Remember that we

read earlier in 1st Thessalonians chapter 4 that whenJesus comes he brings the dead in Christ with him! At

Jesus coming, when Jesus Christ is revealed, well

receive this salvation!

1st Peter; Chapter 1; Verse 8: Though you have not

seen him, you love him; and even though you do not

see him now, you believe in him

Faith!

1st Peter; Chapter 1; Verse 8-9: and are filled with

an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving

the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Youre receiving! Can you see that! It all comesdown to that new birth into a living hope! So born

again is the resurrection of the dead, and we have it

now though faith!
