PASTORAL CORNER We Believe in the God of Life: Today we resume the celebration of Sundays in Ordinary Time, and we do so by proclaiming that our God is the God of Life. Although death is very much a part of our existence, such was not the Creator’s original plan. As the Book of Wisdom teaches us, death came into the picture only through the devil’s action and deception. From that moment on, the entire history of humankind be-came a struggle between life and death, with death appearing to have the upper hand, until Christ de-stroyed its power through the resuscitations that he worked, as in today’s Gospel, but especially through his own resurrection. The Eucharist that we celebrate by listening to the Word of Life and by breaking the Bread of Life is a constant reminder that our God is a God of Life and that life eternal is the final destiny of all those who believe.

The work of the Little Sisters of the Poor who have been caring for the Elderly Poor here in Perth since 1920. Through our life of hospitality we welcome in to our Home the Elderly; both men and women of at least sixty-five years of age and with limited resources, regardless of race or religion. This year we have our special Project for the complete rebuilding of our Home for the Elderly which will cost $25,000.000.00 AUS. We are in need of Financial Support for our work. SOUTH PERTH PARISH RESTORATION COMPLETION South Perth Parish has now completed the external restoration of its iconic St Columba's Church. Restorations included re-tiling the roof,
restoration of the tower and treatment of the external walls. To celebration completion of these works, Archbishop Costelloe will
visit the parish on Thursday, 9 June - the feast day of St Columba and celebrate Mass at 6pm followed by a reception in the Fr Brennan ANZAC Centenary Building. We invite and welcome
anyone who has a connection with St Columba's to attend. Acknowledgement will be made of all those who donated furnishings
of the church and leadlight windows in 1936 (the year of the commencement of the church).
