“Odors have a power of persuasion stronger than that of words, appearances, emotions, or will. The persuasive power of an odor cannot be fended off, it enters into us like breath into our lungs, it fills us up, imbues us totally. There is no remedy for it.”

Patrick Süskind, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer

Each geode-in-spired vessel has been hand sculpted and finished with a crystalline glaze lining to embody a harmonic encounter between organic form and fine craftsman-ship. The glaze itself is created in a splitting of atoms, a super-novic reaction in miniature; form-ing intricate crystalline pat-terns. Its outer shell resembles a rock, rough and archaic, organic and primitive; both ergonomic and humble in conceal-ing this exclu-sive fragrance.

To embody the concept, Givenchy has worked with the prestigious house of crystal, Baccarat, to cre-ate an inner core which is revealed upon pulling the outer shell apart. The crystal is an object of modest seduction and de-sire that invites us to reveal the secrets within. Through its facets can be seen a vile containing iy, a sensual milky elixir, entrapped and restrained.

Parfumes Givenchy introduces ig a chypre-woody houte couture fragrance consisting of 12 carefully chosen notes. The thir-teenth note is to be custom made for its wearer with a unique selection of pheromones, making each bottle unique, intimate and es-sentially bespoke. ig starts, sparkly, crispy and ozonic, slightly off-kilter as the top notes of rare black or-chid add a subtle spice, only mildly sweet, and the an-cient aphrodisiac of pure vanilla is balanced against the soft, hazy scents of cotton blossom and fresh linen.

Its heart notes are comprised of smokey papyrus, luxurious oyster, restoring sea salt from the Dead Sea and white tea, believed to be the elixir of youth. Before undertones of the more earthy, am-aranthine base notes set in with the rich aroma of Tuscan leather, followed by heady Colombian coffee bean, creamy, carnal white musk and raw cacao, the euphoria inducing ‘food of the gods’.

Inspired by Hubert de Givenchy’s ability to create a character through dress, we invite she who wears ig to carry this scent like the finest Givenchy gar-ment. A coture elixir, which embodies the modern Givenchy femme fatale, She is daring and sensual, aware of the power of her own allure. She is timeless, glamorous, always understated. A mystery, an enigma, ethereal and elegant. A siren whose song will entice and entrap you. She is Cleopatra, Isis, A goddess, fragile yet, feminine yet tough “the thirteenth note” creates “Her”

Upon turning a side of the rock in her hands in tactile motion, the inner crystal is released allowing her to reach the vile of ig.To apply she gently glides a few drops across her neck- a sensual gesture, forgotten over the years – as if the crystal dagger was melting on her skin.

“A meteor blazes across the black starry sky. Can we regard it in some sense as alive? A trickle of water meanders, like a snake down a dirt path, sensitively searching for the lowest ground. Is it alive? Microscopic grains of dust swim jerkily in water in the phenomenon know as Brownian movement. Are they alive? Are stars alive? Are atoms and electrons alive? Is the ocean alive? What about the winds and the clouds?”

Guy Murchie -The seven Mysteries of life
