The Villager
A NOTE FROM HEATHER ELLIS Welcome fall and the beautiful colors you bring to us! We are so
fortunate to live nestled here behind the dune and surrounded with
natures beauty. It amazes me every day how beautiful it is here and
it is my wish that you enjoy it as much as I do.
We have alot of things happening in November and a new face to
welcome. Jessica Hudak has accepted the position of Activities
Coordinator and you should see her smiling face here on Monday,
November 11th. There is a “Donuts & Coffee” welcome party for
Jessica at 9:00 A.M. in the Dining Room. Please come and make
Jessica feel welcome and if you are unable, please stop by her office
sometime during the week and introduce yourself.
As you all are aware I personally have some exciting things happen-
ing in November and will be welcoming a new baby to our family.
My husband and I are excited about this new adventure, but I do
want to assure all of you that I will be returning after my time off to
bond and get used to an all new life and routine. While I’m away,
there will be a couple different representatives from HPM that will
be overseeing the day to day operations. I feel much calmer with
leaving you all in the capable hands of Cory Gould (HPM Corporate
Office) and Becky Post (Community Manager at The Village at Ap-
pledorn, Holland).
In the meanwhile, we have continued to move forward and still
have many activities for you to enjoy. Sign up sheets will be at the
front lobby and business will be as usual.
Chef Steve will be providing a some great meals throughout the
month and he would love seeing you in the dining room eating his
thoughtfully prepared meals. The feedback from our special meals
have been very insightful and we appreciate your assistance with
this and other suggestions on meals that you would like to see.
Happy Fall!
Heather

November Movies
Shown TUESDAY and THURSDAY at 3:00 PM in the Theater on the 3rd Floor.
11/5 Can you Ever Forgive Me (R)
Lee Israel is a frustrated, hard-drinking author who can barely afford to pay her
rent or bills in 1990s New York. Desperate for money, Israel soon hatches a
scheme to forge letters by famous writers and sell them to bookstores and collec-
tors. When the dealers start to catch on, Lee recruits a dubious friend to help her
continue her self-destructive cycle of trickery and deceit.
11/7 Queen of the Desert (PG13)
Gertrude Bell's life as a writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer, and political
attaché for the British Empire at the dawn of the twentieth century.
11/12 Same Kind of Different as Me (PG13)
Successful businessman Ron Hall and his wife, Deborah, discover a renewed sense of purpose
when they begin to volunteer at a local mission in Fort Worth, Texas. Their lives change forever
when they develop an unlikely friendship with Denver Moore, a homeless man who inspires them
to save their struggling marriage.
11/14 Lee Daniels’ The Butler (PG13)
After leaving the South as a young man and finding employment at an elite hotel in Washing-
ton, D.C., Cecil Gaines (Forest Whitaker) gets the opportunity of a lifetime when he is hired
as a butler at the White House. Over the course of three decades, Cecil has a front-row seat to
history and the inner workings of the Oval Office. However, his commitment to his "First
Family" leads to tension at home, alienating his wife (Oprah Winfrey) and causing conflict
with his anti-establishment son.
11/19 Creed (PG13)
Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan) never knew his famous father, boxing champion Apollo
Creed, who died before Adonis was born. However, boxing is in his blood, so he seeks out
Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and asks the retired champ to be his trainer. Rocky sees
much of Apollo in Adonis, and agrees to mentor him, even as he battles an opponent deadlier
than any in the ring. With Rocky's help, Adonis soon gets a title shot, but whether he has the
true heart of a fighter remains to be seen.
11/21 The Book Thief (PG13)
In 1938, young orphan Liesel (Sophie Nélisse) arrives at the home of her new foster par-
ents, Hans (Geoffrey Rush) and Rosa (Emily Watson). When Hans, a kindly housepaint-
er, learns that Liesel cannot read, he teaches the child the wonders of the written lan-
guage. Liesel grows to love books, even rescuing one from a Nazi bonfire. Though Liesel's
new family barely scrape by, their situation becomes even more precarious when they
secretly shelter a Jewish boy whose father once saved Hans' life.
11/26 The Kings Speech (R)
England's Prince Albert (Colin Firth) must ascend the throne as King George VI, but he has a speech
impediment. Knowing that the country needs her husband to be able to communicate effectively,
Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter) hires Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush), an Australian actor and
speech therapist, to help him overcome his stammer. An extraordinary friendship develops between
the two men, as Logue uses unconventional means to teach the monarch how to speak with confi-
dence.

TRASH ROOM
ETTIQUETTE
ALL trash & recyclables
MUST be bagged and
tied BEFORE they are
placed in any specified
dumpster, bin or the
garbage chutes.
Trash: Bagging & tying
these items keep the
smell to a minimum in
the trash rooms. In
addition to the smell,
our bins are lined with
a protective liner to
prevent damage. This
liner is quite expensive
and replacing them reg-
ularly is very costly.
Please be considerate of
your neighbors, who
also use these rooms.
Thank you

TIDBITS TO TELL:
Apartments & Cottages still available.
We still have a few two-bedroom two-bath apartments and cottages available to
lease. Stop in as they are leasing quickly.

see all the amenities that The Village at Rosy Mound offers. Call 616-935-2220
Today!
Cold weather.
Colder weather is approaching fast—make sure you have tested your heat before
you really need it! For some of the apartments, this is year one of the furnace
starting up—so there may be an odor initially when you start your furnace. If there
is anything you feel is suspect, please contact our office and we will address it
quickly.
Snow removal is another issue we want to provide some reminders.
1. Always wear proper footwear (boots) and dress accordingly.
2. Keep cars from parking over the curbs—the snowblowers can not remove
snow if parked over the curbs.
3. We are working on a schedule to clean out after winter storms and will be
needing your help to move your vehicles if they are parked in the open park-
ing or in carport parking—to make sure we can keep it all cleared. Know that
we will be contacting you to move your car for a temporary time period so
snow plows and our own equipment can get everything cleaned out for all of
you.
Activities.
If there are activities or events you would be interested in, please bring these to
the office so we can see if there is enough interest to make happen
Although not in the Newsletter, we will be putting together some community giving
projects . If you would like to be a part of this, please stop in the office and sign
up. Things such as Teen Challenge, Mentoring a child, providing food baskets or
gifts to those less fortunate, Toys for Tots, Angel Tree, etc. We are always so
impressed by what giving hearts our residents have for those that need more and
the time they are willing to spend volunteering for others.
November is the month that reminds us all to be thankful and show everyone by
example to be kind to each other every day. Remember those around you may
be having a hard day and could use a bit of kindness. Smiles and conversations
are free and usually the best source of kindness.
We are thankful for all of you here at our Village and wish you the very very best
Thanksgiving.
Warmest regards,
