Children’s
Book Writing
Workshop
in
Paris
Five inspiring days of intimate, individualized sessions
About the workshopAll children's books need to tell a story but how do you know if you have a good story? The Write Bank moves you closer to getting published by examining the elements of your story idea or manuscript: plot, structure, character and dialogue.
Topics covered include: • How to define what constitutes a
story• The importance of visualizing
scenes before writing them and techniques to do so
• How to bring forth and thus learn what your own unique "authentic voice sounds like"
• The importance of outlining• How to make description specific
and character revealing • When to use narrative and
when to use dialogue• The importance of each
character having an objective• What goals revision must
accomplish• Uncovering the meaning that
goes beyond the story.
Appropriate for both beginning and intermediate writers, The Write Bank Children’s Book workshop is a combination of lecture, discussion, readings, in-depth critiques and hands-on exercises. The focus is deeply personal: on your specific work and your current writing goal.
Why it’s differentThe setting: a cozy, Parisian apartment on the Right Bank in a most charming neighborhood with delicious French breakfasts includedThe group: supportive and small (4-6)
The technique: practical, proven, personal
