LAST WEEK’S VISITORS

ANNIVERSARY ANNOUNCEMEN150th

1869-2019

Our church has begun planning for our 150th Anniversary celebration to take place early summer 2019. We have assembled a Steering Committee to handle the details of a time of celebration to honor and remember the last 150 years. Of course, we need your help! If you have any memorabilia (programs/orders of worship, etc.) that we could borrow and copy, please bring it to the church office. If you would like to document some stories or memories, we would love to include them. If you would like to participate in the planning process, or help in any other way, please let us know by emailing us at [email protected]. This is an exciting time for our church family, and we can’t wait to celebrate God’s love and faithfulness with you.

Amanda Austin, Senatobia

A WORD FROM YOUR PASTOR UPCOMING DATES FOR KIDS

Hello church, hope all is well with you this week!

As I write this, there have been some potentially historic events taking place over the last few hours over in East Asia. On its face, the meeting between President Trump and the North Korean dictator has gone very well. Time will tell, but the initial accounts of the meeting seem to be very positive, and hope-fully will go a long way to avoiding war and bringing about a more peace-ful atmosphere to the region.

I think this is a reminder to the church to pray for our governmental leaders…from our local city aldermen all the way up to the Commander in Chief.

Despite your political leanings, we should all want what’s best for our country, and while many believe they know what’s best, the Lord is only one the knows. So, we as believers should continually lift up our leaders and pray that God would shower them with wisdom, such that our city and state and country and other countries all prosper and are safe…and more importantly, that God ‘s name would be glorified.

So, I’m asking each of you to make prayer for our governmental leaders a priority in your prayer life.

Looking forward to seeing our fathers this week on their special day.

Love you all, and I will see you Sunday!

Bro. Chris

It’s Day 2 in VBS and I am certainly enjoying the week! It is awesome to see so many adults and youth involved in teaching, modeling and growing our kids in our Lord! It’s been a blast! As we continue to think about worship, today I want us to think about this thought: True worship requires us to engage God with our whole person. Worship is our response to God: who He is, His ways, purposes, and will. True worship requires that we engage God with our minds as we study His Word and seek to grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. At the same time, true worship requires that we engage God with our hearts as the fullness of Christ within us overflows and causes us to praise God in complete praise and delight! We simply can’t hold back for exalting and praising God. Our wor-ship should be passionate because it’s responding to the incredible work of God’s mercy and grace in our lives. How can we keep from singing? I have been in many worship services that choose one component or the other rather than both. Some want to engage their minds and make God an intellectual exercise while others want to engage God with a variety of emotions. I be-lieve we need a combination of these two but I believe worship always moves us beyond our mind (thoughts) and heart (emotions) to our will. Does what we think about each day declare the glory of God? Does what we desire throughout the day declare the glory of God? Does what comes from our mouth declare the glory of God? Does the priority of our time declare the glory of God? When we open our checkbook and look at our spending habits, does it declare the glory of God? “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31. Let’s not wait until Sunday—let’s make sure that everything we do today gives glory to God. And Sunday will be a powerful celebration of a body who engages our hearts, minds and wills to God! See you on Sunday as we honor our Heavenly Father! (and our earthly ones as well). Singing His praises all the day long! Randy
