The Vitruvian Triad, as described by Vitruvius in about 15 B.C has been one of the foundation stones for architecture throughout the years. It emphasizes on the three virtues, that any design must be solid, useful and beautiful. However, as said by Frank Gehry, Architecture should speak of its time and place. Many of the tropical developing countries, which contribute to 1/3 of the world population, are on the threshold to become an industrialized country. Others will follow soon resulting in a sharp decrease in resources and increase in energy consumption. Therefore, in the first part of my thesis, I propose to extend the VITRUVIAN TRIAD to a CONTEMPORARY QUINTET, which would define architecture based on durability, functionality, aesthetics, carbon footprint and affordability as per the present needs. One of most widely accepted applications of this proposed quintet is evident in the Usonian architecture by Frank Llyod Wright. Thus, in the second part of my thesis, I propose to study the Usonian and similar systems with refer- ence to the qualities of the Quintet and improvise the concept as per the world, now. An end–of-life material recover strategy can be implemented as one of the strate- gies to achieve an optimum condition that satisfies the proposed Quintet.

Thus, in the second part of my thesis, I propose to study the Usonian and similar systems with refer-ence to the qualities of the Quintet and improvise the concept as per the world, now.

An end–of-life material recover strategy can be implemented as one of the strate-gies to achieve an optimum condition that satisfies the proposed Quintet.
