A WORD FROM THE PRINCIPAL This week is SAS Staff Recognition Week, a chance for the school community to celebrate the contribution of School Administrative and Support Staff to the success of the school and to the students’ education. On behalf of myself, our teaching staff and the students I would like to thank:

• Miss Burton and Mrs Alessi in the office for the work you do to ensure the smooth and efficient organisation and management of resources and routines

• Ms Charney, Mrs Warren and Miss Wyatt for the care and dedication you show when supporting students in the classroom and playground

• Mr Webster for ensuring the grounds and equipment are maintained to such a high standard

You are a much valued and integral part of the school and you are very much appreciated! Ms Charney began her final teaching practicum at Goulburn East PS this week, and will finish in week 9. We wish Ms Charnley the best for this last hurdle before completing her teaching degree. Mrs Warren, Mr Webster and Miss Hayes will be filling in as School Learning Support Officers, along with Miss Wyatt while Ms Charnley is away. Lastly, I would like to welcome Corban and Coen back to Windellama Public School. They are both in the 3-6 class and have had a wonderful, settled start to the week.

Congratulations to our Week 4 Recess Buy-Up Winners, Evie (K-2) and Cooper (3-6)

Our Week 5 recipients of Recess Buy-Up were Lacey (K-2) and Josh (3-6).

Well done everyone.

Where a COVID-19 test has been done, please forward a copy of the test result to our school email, with child’s name and class.

BOOK CLUB ISSUE 6

The current issue of Book Club is enclosed, please finalise orders by Thursday 3rd September, 2020 via the LOOP App.

3 – 6 DESIGN The 3 – 6 classroom, have been working on Maths tasks with Mrs Ball, that require them to design and construct a finished milk carton with certain dimensions. Here you can see our students hard at work on designs as well as some completed designs. This was a great fun learning activity.

EVENTS DATES

Life Education Mobile Van Week 7, Wednesday 2nd September

3 – 6 REPORT In 3-6 we have had wonderful music lessons with our new music teacher Donna. Donna taught us a game similar to Chinese whispers but you tap a rhythm on the persons back next to you and they do the same until it goes right around the circle. We also learnt about composing. We got into pairs and prepared a little song using drums, triangles and shakers. Some of us got to perform our composition.

K-2 REPORT K-2 have had a great couple of weeks with lots of work on reading and number games. We’ve also done some science activities on animal adaptations, ask about bird beaks. Soccer has started each Wednesday morning, which the children are enjoying and they’ve made some gorgeous water colours of whales. We’re continuing our work on positive talk and regulating emotions.
