Important Tips To Help Maintain Your Puppy's Good Health (A happy dog is a healthy dog) 1. As soon as the puppy leaves the Mother they have to build their own immunity system. Make sure you keep the puppy warm and clean at all times. It's best not to put the puppy down on they ground or dirty surfaces. 2. Anything that is on the ground or within their reach, they will try to chew on because they are teething. Best thing is to start training them to play with toy and squeaky toys. They can easily eat a toothpick like material and wined up eating a splinter. This will definitely destroy their intestines. I lost a puppy before due to this very problem, it was dry potpourri that they were playing and chewing on. 3. Make sure you don't leave your puppy unattended on high surface. They will try to jump off and my break they bones fracture and fatally break their necks. 4. It's best when you have to leave the puppy at home to put the puppy in a crate or cage. They will be sad and bark but don't think they will know better. They can chew on wire and cause a fire, drink chemicals and anything you can think of. 5. It's best to bathe your puppy once a week or every two weeks. You don't want to shower your puppy too often because they need their natural body oil to build a good and strong coats. 6. For these type of dogs, avoid letting them play in dry grass even at full grown, especially avoid fox-tails, dry grass and fox tails will burrow deep in their skin and cause a bad infection, it will cost you at least $500 to surgically remove it. 7. Keep your puppy away from bigger dogs because the bigger dog might think they are playing but end up mauling you puppy. 8. Watch out for cars. 9. Before you pick a Vet make sure you do your research, the one closest doesn't mean they are any good. 10. You can purchase your puppy insurance, I believe they have many quotes only, buy the policy which best fits you. I recommend health insurance for the first 6-12 months. Those are the critical months due to weak immune system and they are too young to know what not to eat. 11. When they look like they are looking for gold and getting really anxious, they means they need to go pee or poo. 12. If you have carpet I recommend buy the Hoover Wet Vac from Target which cost about $100, it does miracles. 13. I recommend Purina Puppy Chow/Dog Chow, it is great dog food and good on the wallet. I don't recommend soft food because you will spoil them and they will not eat dry food. This is bad for their overall dental health.
