Does this person want to speak to me?
Target Know more than name & title
The more you know, the stronger your pitch
Warm
Tip 2: Use Twitter to learn more
Tip 3: Maintain data accuracy by verifying on the web
Tip 3: Maintain data accuracy by verifying on the web
People in some professions are almost always listed online.
Tip 4: Find point opportunities
§ Look for unnecessary changes to find where you could update – If you find one instance, you can likely find a pattern that needs
to be corrected.
– You get points, and it helps data integrity

Tip 5: Leverage saved searches
§ Have contacts been added or updated? § Many of us have the same group of people we’re talking to over
and over. This saves time.
§ Group lists by region, function, sometimes multiple criteria. § You do it once, Data.com Connect does it the rest of the time for
you.
Tip 5: Leverage saved searches
Tip 6: Start broad and get more specific
§ Don’t miss anything – Naming
conventions – Outlying cities
§ Make it more manageable
Tip 7: Use complementary tools to verify email
§ BriteVerify checks email addresses – Point earning potential
Find inactive contacts and check if they should have been inactivated or if you should update them.
– Better campaign results Check emails you’d like to send out.
If they come back as bad, you can deactivate them and earn points for them, and not send them.
§ Email bounces – Pay attention to why it bounced
– Are you getting blocked as spam?
Tip 8: Networking = new contacts!
§ When you’re networking, think of those as contacts you can add to Data.com Connect, and do it fast! – My adds tend to be half dozen at a time. I go somewhere and
find people and then get them in.
– New contacts have fresh, accurate information Add them to Data.com Connect, or check if an existing contact is
accurate.

Tip 9: Age matters
§ The great debate: are newer or older contacts better? § Sort by the date contact was entered, then look to the
industry – In accounting if they are staff accountant for 4 years, they are
likely gone or have a new title. – Academia does not change a lot vs. some places (ex: sales,
accounting, finance) there is constant change and promotion
Tip 9: Age matters
Tip 9: Age matters
Tip 10: Search by area code and zip code § Target your lists - Find the group of area codes that will be your targets
- Sometimes company is not willing to relocate, so I need to have someone who is actually in x area.
- Sometimes the area code and address don’t match. It’s more likely the phone is correct, so this helps you find the right people. It’s also a major update opportunity!
§ Data Integrity § What constitutes data accuracy for you? - Keep in mind what you are going to use the information for and what
pieces of the data are most important.
