Dear Medical Graduates,

It is my very great pleasure to welcome you to the 2012 UCD Medical Alumni GalaReunion for the classes of 1952, 1962, 1972, 1982, 1987, 1992 and 2002. The Schoolaims to provide a greater level of support to our Alumni, and together with the MedicalGraduates Association, wishes to ensure that you have a solid mechanism for staying intouch with each other. The social and professional networks you formed with your classgroup during your studies at UCD will have played a large role in who you are today andI can think of no better way to celebrate this time than reuniting for this special eventand re-forging those links.

The event will commence with student-led tours of the new Health Sciences Centre,Belfield, which houses our state-of-the-art Medical School. This year’s tour will includea viewing of the Kevin Barry Window which was unveiled first in 1934 in Earlsfort Terraceto commemorate the First Year Medical student who was executed at the age of 18 forhis part in the War of Independence. The much loved Kevin Barry Window was restoredby the Terrace Graduates Fund to preserve this historical artefact for successivegenerations of UCD students. As the window was paid for by UCD Medical students itsnew home is located in a specially designed atrium adjacent to the Medical School.

Following the tours, the UCD Medical Graduates Association will hold their AnnualScientific Meeting. All talks will be CME accredited and will be given by graduates of thecelebrating years. A Gala Dinner follows on the evening of Friday 4th May providing youwith the opportunity to reminisce on your days at UCD in style.

This is a momentous occasion for the UCD Medical School and I hope you will join us inour celebrations.

7.30pm Alumni Gala Reunion Dinner (Lounge Suit)A spectacular evening for the classes of 1952, 1962, 1972, 1982, 1987, 1992, and 2002colleagues from the UCD Medical Graduates Association. The evening commences with areception and four-course meal. Tables will be arranged by graduating year in the O’ReillyHall, one of Ireland’s largest and most prestigious venues. O’Reilly Hall, encompassing anarea of 2,632 square meters, was designed by renowned architects Scott Tallon Walker. Thevenue features paintings commissioned from Irish Artists.
