A project leading to original and/or creative work directed by a faculty mentor

Stimulate, encourage, and support research activities by exceptionally talented undergraduate students

Research with designated Beckman Mentors in chemistry, biochemistry, and the biological and medical sciences.

Benefits: $19,300 for two summers and one academic year of

undergraduate research

Participation in the Annual Research Symposium at the Beckman Center of the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering

Beckman Scholars emerge as the top and most visible science students on campus

Intended for students who want to pursue a Ph.D. (Research Degree)

Eligibility: first-generation or underrepresented group in graduate education

McNair Scholars participate in an intensive summer research program

and attend monthly seminars in the fall & spring

Instruction in research methods & GRE test preparation

Assistance with the graduate school application process

Training and experience in giving oral & poster presentations

UF-HHMI Cross-Disciplinary LaboratoryX-LAB 1 (ISC 2400L) & X-LAB 2 (ISC 2401L)

Two-semester laboratory course integrating chemistry, physics, and biology concepts

Equivalent to completing: BSC 2010L, BSC 2011L,

CHM 2045L, CHM 2046L,

PHY 2053L and PHY 2054L

Prerequisite for X-Lab I: High school algebra (or higher)
